MANILA, Philippines — Anthony Constantino is not only winning in looks, but also in character as Shuvee Etrata revealed that her “TDH” brought her closer to her faith and helped in her spiritual healing.
Shuvee, together with her close friend and fellow “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition” housemate Ashley Ortega, sat with host-actor Vice Ganda for the latter’s vlog.
Shuvee and Ashley are also real-life housemates since they have been living in the same condominium for a year now.
Both actresses shared about how they developed their friendship through the 2022 show “Hearts on Ice,” where Ashley was the lead star and Shuvee was cast as a supporting actress.
In between talks of friendship and their struggles as actresses who want to make their own mark in the tricky world of showbizness, Shuvee bared her turbulent family life in idyllic Bantayan island in Cebu.
She made no secret about growing up financially challenged in a brood of nine siblings — a fact that she has also talked about while inside the “PBB” house. She again bared how she was traumatized growing up while struggling financially and witnessing how her father, whom she still dearly loves, turns into a new person whenever he is intoxicated.
Thus, Shuvee said she has longed for a better life away from the island that may be heaven for tourists but hell for her.
“Yes, masaya kami pero ‘yung trauma… goal ng lahat ng mga magkakapatid ay umalis ng bahay… Lahat gustong umalis sa bahay na ‘yun na mapoot. Parang impyerno siya sa amin kasi lang kulang kami sa pera,” Shuvee said.
As the eldest among her siblings, she knew from an early age about responsibility and taking care of her younger siblings.
As aftermath, she has trust issues, including men. At one point in the interview, she candidly admitted that she did not know she could experience acceptance and love from other people.
“Sa totoo lang, Meme (Vice Ganda’s nickname), ngayon lang ako nagta-tanggap ng pagmamahal. Kasi sa sobrang bigat ng dinanas ko, ang taas ng wall ko sa sarili ko.
“Even loving you, babe (Ashley), it was hard for me to trust you. Kasi ang taas ng wall ko, (thinking na) hindi naman ito magtatagal kasi sasaktan lang ako nito. Ngayon with help of Ashley, friends ko, ‘yung mga taong naniwala sa akin, kaya ko rin pala talagang mag-mahal. Sa loob ng Bahay ni Kuya, natutunan ko siya,” Shuvee admitted.
Ashley reassured her that she was worthy of love; in fact, Ashley said Shuvee was easy to love because she is a genuine and happy person.
With the subject of love tackled in their conversation, Vice did not pass up the chance to ask about Anthony Constantino, who has been vocal about his admiration for Shuvee.
Anthony went viral after social media users noticed him among the people who welcomed back Shuvee when she was evicted last month. Anthony is not only a looker, but also a double degree holder from an American university.
“Mabait po talaga si Anthony. Feeling ko hindi lang friends makakatulong sa’yo. It’s also God. ‘Yung pagdadala niya sa akin sa Church, ang laking bagay nun. Kasi minsan ‘pag Sunday, I’d rather just rest. ‘Yung time na mine-make effort niya talaga ako na para dalhin doon,” Shuvee revealed.
Shuvee said that Anthony helped in her spiritual healing, as she processes her childhood trauma. A plus point for the handsome actor whom Shuvee said she is pursuing relationship with.
Ashley agreed, “Alam mo ‘yung kahit Amboy siya, marunong siyang makisama sa lahat ng tao. Nagustuhan rin siya ni Mavy (Legaspi, Ashley’s boyfriend). Nagba-basketball sila. Very respectful.”
Turning to make light of the serious discussion, a demeanor that Shuvee has illustrated inside the house, she joked about why she likes Anthony.
“Gwapo. Ako unang nagka-crush e. Crush ko si Donny (Pangilinan). So, nag-hanap ako ng kamukha ni Donny,” Shuvee quipped, drawing laughter from Ashley and Vice.
