Investigation and Accountability

In response to the incident, the Quezon City government has initiated an investigation to determine accountability. The Department of Building Official had previously issued a compliance order to the nearly 30-year-old building for failing to implement a maintenance program. Although the building passed annual inspections, these checks did not cover all architectural elements, such as the plaster that fell. Following the accident, the building’s owners were ordered to replace the entire facade’s plasterwork and install protective canopies during rehabilitation .12-year-old students in Philippines struck by falling debris from condo, 2 in critical condition
