‘Padman’ actor, Akshay Kumar’s wife, Twinkle Khanna reminds him that she’s the real boss of the house and his life with her one tweet. Find out!
The people who say that cinema isn’t for sending out messages and should be used for entertainment purposes are the ones, whose sole purpose is to fill their banks. The reason for that goes to the mass reach of this medium and the way it influences people particularly in India, all those people standing outside the houses of those superstars in Mumbai exemplifies the power of cinematic characters in this country. However, there are still some actors and filmmakers, who are balancing the art of making money and making a change in society with concept-based films. One such actor is Bollywood’s Khiladi Kumar, Akshay Kumar, the actor has crafted the art of doing concept films and entertainment films this brilliantly that he’s leading the pack of the 90s actors.
In 2018, filmmaker, R. Balki had released his film, Padman based on the true story of a social activist named, Arunachalam Muruganantham, who is a social entrepreneur from a small village in Tamil Nadu. The film won numerous awards and plaudits from the critics for making a biopic on an inspiring man instead of the ongoing trend of following the lives of gangsters. Not just the concept of the film but the way Akshay Kumar has digged-deep in the layers of his character, Lakshmikant Chauhan told us about the mettle of his acting prowess. Now recently, the movie has completed two years and to celebrate the big day, Akshay Kumar tweeted a tweet but does a huge mistake after which his wife, Twinkle Khanna reminds him who is the real boss.
On May 28, 2020, Akshay Kumar took to his Twitter handle and wrote down a few lines along with two beautiful pictures from his film, Padman as it completes 2 years of its release. In the tweet, the actor again talks about the importance of menstrual hygiene as his tweet can be read “It’s been 2 years to #PadMan and I’m glad we managed to push the envelope a little on this taboo subject. This #MenstrualHygieneDay, I hope we move a step closer towards ending period poverty and breaking taboos surrounding menstruation.
Moments after his tweet went live on Twitter, Akshay Kumar’s wife, Twinkle Khanna retweeted his tweet and informed him that he’s no longer a part of her next production. Her tweet can be read as “Err… You are definitely not part of my next production! #PadMan.” After which, Akshay Kumar quickly credited his wife, who was the producer of this film, R. Balki, the director of the film, and the real Padman, Arunachalam Muruganantham in his tweet which can be read as “Please mere pet pe laat mat maro Missed tagging the team. Apologies to my producer, @mrsfunnybones, director #RBalki and the man without whom Padman wouldn’t be made @murugaofficial.” Take a look.
For the uninitiated, Padman was the movie with which Twinkle Khanna had marked her return in Bollywood as a producer after ending her acting career back in 2001. In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Akshay Kumar had revealed that how desperately he had requested his wife, Twinkle Khanna for casting him in the film but she kept on saying that it’s too risky. He had stated, “She wanted to make a small film. I requested ‘Mujhe le lo isme, main kaam karna chahunga!” In the same interview, Twinkle Khanna was also present and had talked about the same but had revealed that originally she wanted to make a small budget film because she was unsure about its monetary success at the box-office. She had revealed, “It was a risky subject, so I earlier wanted to make just a small movie, because we were unsure whether we would be able to recover the investment, or the film would catch on with the people the way it has. I discussed it with him, and he was fascinated right from the beginning… It’s his finest performance.”
