Adele finally explained that viral courtside meme from a NBA All-Stars game in Cleveland, Ohio from two years ago.

During her Las Vegas residency show on Saturday evening, the 35-year-old singer spoke to the crowd and explained why she appeared to be in a bad mood at the basketball game.

She was intentionally ignoring the camera at the game in February 2022 because she was ‘very annoyed’, she told the audience at her Weekends with Adele concert, according to a fan-recorded TikTok video.

‘Do you remember that viral meme of me looking like I don’t give a flying f***?

‘I’d like to give some context about that meme,’ explained the 16-time Grammy winner — who is often ‘memeified’ and praised by fans for her unbothered appearance and honest responses.

She said she realized she would garner attention but wanted to be left alone.

‘I know it sounds crazy, but I really don’t like being famous, right? So obviously, I know I’m sitting courtside at a basketball game, you’re asking for it. Whatever.’

She recalled focusing on the players while her sports agent boyfriend was having conversations with other people.

‘Rich [Paul] was working the room and, you know, talking to other players and people,’ she said. ‘I was fine. I didn’t mind.

‘I was just there on my own, looking for Michael Jordan, to be honest with you,’ she joked.

The Easy On Me hitmaker said it was then that a camera crew approached her.

‘But the people with the camera came over and asked me twice,’ she said.

‘They were like, “Do you mind if we film you? Can we put you on the screen?” I said, “Please don’t. I just canceled [my] Vegas [residency]. I really don’t wanna be [on camera],’ she recalled.

Despite her refusal, however, Adele said: ‘They came back and they filmed me.’

Then, she referenced some fan comments about her looking like she had work done and explained she was just pouting over the situation.

‘The reason my lips looked like I had filler…,’ she began before insisting that she has ‘naturally big lips’ and does not ‘need’ any cosmetic procedures.

‘The reason I looked like a different person was because I was sulking,’ she explained.

‘Because I was like, “These motherf***ers have come back and are filming me against my will”,’ she said, adding that she did not know they were filming her for television and that moment would go viral the way it did.

‘I just wanted to give some context,’ she concluded. ‘Because I was ignoring looking everywhere but in the camera.
