2024 has started on a great note for the English-Albanian singer-songwriter Dua Lipa.

The singer-turned-actor was seen in Matthew Vaughn’s much-hyped meta spy drama Argylle, along with Henry Cavill and Sam Rockwell. She also played the character of the Mermaid Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s magnum opus, Barbie.

Reportedly, Dua Lipa would be doing a song for one of the most anticipated projects of 2025, Superman: Legacy.

Dua Lipa Would Be Composing a Song For James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy

James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy has been making a lot of buzz, almost a year before its theatrical release. From the new faces on board to the plot of the much-hyped DCU project, fans want to know about everything with respect to Superman: Legacy. According to a recent development on James Gunn’s first DC project, Grammy award winner Dua Lipa would be composing a song for Superman: Legacy. As reported by Variety via X, the Argylle star is looking forward to creating a perfect song that honors the legacy of the Kryptonian superhero. The post on X mentioned-

It has been revealed that Dua Lipa will be doing a song for Superman: Legacy. Dua said: “I have been a fan of the character for years, and I want to create a perfect song that honors its legacy.”

 

The Houdini singer had composed a song for Margot Robbie-led Barbie, too. During  The Hollywood Reporter’s Songwriter Roundtable in 2023, the singer spoke about the entire process behind the making of Dance The Night. Dua Lipa revealed that she was on a tour when Mark Ronson spoke about the collaboration. She said-

“Basically, the way it came to be was Mark Ronson DM’d me on Instagram, which is weird because we’re friends, so we text. He was like, ‘I’m working on this film with Greta Gerwig and it’s Barbie, and it’s possibly the funniest script I’ve read, and I really want you to write the song for the big dance scene in the film.’”

According to the Levitating singer, she did not think much about her Grammy-nominated song and agreed to Ronson’s proposal. She said-

“I was like, ‘This is an absolute no-brainer. One thousand percent yes, and so ‘Dance the Night’ was created specifically for Barbie’s best day ever, which then results in her thinking about death. So it’s really about those dualities of life and being able to merge the two together.”

Dance The Night went on to become a massive hit and spent 24 weeks at the No.6 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. It was nominated in the category of Song of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media at the 2024 Grammy Awards.

Dua Lipa Praised Her Argylle Co-star Henry Cavill

Dua Lipa collaborated with Henry Cavill for Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle. The official trailer of Argylle set the internet on fire as it opened with the hitmaker and Cavill dancing. During a conversation with Variety, the 28-year-old singer-turned-actor spoke about working with Henry Cavill. She said-

“Working with Henry is amazing. Yeah, Matthew is such a great director, so I’ve really thoroughly enjoyed that experience. So we’ll see.”

 

Dua Lipa was also seen performing stunts and riding bikes in Argylle, unlike her character in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie. While talking about executing stunts in the meta spy drama, she said-

“I had the most fun. Honestly, being on a motorcycle, doing all the stunts, it was just so much fun.”

The Henry Cavill-led meta spy drama struggled to make an impact at the box office. With a production budget of $200 million, Argylle managed to collect $86 million worldwide. The movie revolves around the character of a spy writer, Elly Conway, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, who falls into trouble after the events from her book start resembling the real world.
