The world of comic books has lured and provoked curiosity in many minds since the dawn of printed ink.

Among the most recognizable characters from such books is Superman and from among the many who have essayed the role in live-action, Henry Cavill comes out as a fan-favorite. The British actor who held the role for nine years won over many for his dedication to the role, including going rigorously through the comics to maintain accuracy.

Harnessing such knowledge, his choices, thus, hold unanimous weight, and during one interaction, he laid bare the one arch-nemesis he holds in prominence.

When Henry Cavill revealed his favoritism for this one unseen villain

Henry Cavill came across as one of the finest, though divisive, adaptations of Superman ever with his big screen debut in 2013’s Man of Steel. However, with his snub after James Gunn taking over DC Studios and handing the role to David Corenswet, one of the actor’s favorite villains never materialized on-screen opposite him. In talks with JOE.ie in November 2017, the actor revealed that “I like Brainiac” as his favorite villain from the comics.

The super-intelligent cyborg from the planet Colu, Brainiac, possesses unmatched intelligence known as the Twelfth-Level. With the ability to shoot powerful laser blasts and manipulate technology at whim, he can also take down advanced levels of defense with his intellectual prowess.

While Cavill also mentioned the likes of General Zod, Doomsday, and Darkseid as his formidable adversaries, he settled with Brainiac as the best and, ironically, the rumored villain of the canceled potential solo sequel to Man of Steel.

Despite Henry Cavill marking his last feature acting as Superman in 2021’s Zack Snyder’s Justice League, he still remains a fan-favorite, as evident on the character’s birthday.

Fans chose the best adaptation on Superman’s birthday

The leap day or 29th February marked the birthday of Superman as per the Super DC Calendar. In a social media post, fans soon chimed in to vote for what they considered the best adaptation of the character, ranging from the comics to the screens of live-action.

Many chose Henry Cavill as the best for his charisma, natural stature, and unmatched acting prowess in an overwhelming show of unity, despite the unconventional angle chosen by Snyder.

Man of Steel marked a critical divide for scenes such as the Metropolis destruction even after sufficient reason. However, the undeniable improvements it brought over, ranging from a 21st-century iteration of the suit to arguably the most physically accurate on-screen Superman, stand as unforgettable endeavors.
