Micah Parsons gets HC Mike McCarthy’s WRATH after hitting QB Dak Prescott ‘low’ several times during Cowboys’ training camp

Micah Parsons is a No.1 violator of the no QB hit rule in the training camp per McCarthy.

The Dallas Cowboys training camp is going strong as the players and coaches are practicing hard for the upcoming NFL season. During the intense training camp, the Cowboys’ star linebacker Micah Parsons made head coach Mike McCarthy very unhappy by committing the sin of hitting their star quarterback Dak Prescott.

“In Micah’s case, we have practice ethics, rules, and structure to our drills,” McCarthy said Thursday per dallascowboys.com. “We go through these spots all the time: you don’t hit the quarterback.”

The biggest rule of the training camp is to “not hit the red shirt” meaning a defender cannot hit the quarterback (who will be wearing a red shirt during camp) to avoid any kind of injuries to the franchise leader. However, the Cowboys’ 2-time All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons keeps violating the rule according to Mike McCarthy.

“The quarterback hasn’t been hit in practice in my 30 years [as an NFL coach] that I can recall. That’s all part of working together, having discipline in your rush lane, discipline in your pass-protection unit, and this is why you have camp,” said McCarthy. “Oh yeah, we’ve talked about that a number of times. That’s all part of the practice ethic plan. He [Parsons] is a No. 1 violator right now.”

The Cowboys would be more than happy to see their star defender wreaking havoc in the opposing offense’s backfield. But for now, they would prefer him to not hit their expensive quarterback Dak Prescott who missed five games last season due to injury.

Micah Parsons believes the Cowboys defense is going to be great in 2023

The Cowboys boast one of the best defensive units in the league led by the 2-time Pro Bowler Micah Parsons. But statistically, they were not the best defense in the NFL back in 2022.

The San Francisco 49ers held that title since they led the league in the least number of points allowed per game (17.2). However, this time, Parsons believes they can become the best.

In a recent interview, Parsons claimed that the Cowboys’ defense could be “up there” with the 2022 49ers defense and the legendary ‘Legion of Boom’ defensive unit of the Seattle Seahawks. The defensive unit of the Dallas-based franchise has talent all across the field. And they also added the veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore in the off-season, who would make the Cowboys’ secondary unit one of the scariest in the leagues in the upcoming season.
