Just like many other online personalities, content creator Russco Jarviña has also faced criticisms and mean remarks online. He shared how these negative comments don’t affect him in an exclusive interview with PUSH ABS-CBN at the Shakey’s 50th anniversary celebration.

“When it comes to dealing with haters or bashers, opinions of people who you respect and the people that are close to you are the ones that matter the most. Most of the time, people who hate you, especially on social media, are the people who have nothing better to do other than stay on social media. So why would I listen to their opinions?” he remarked.

Russco acknowledged that while accepting criticism is important, it’s equally essential to be assertive when the feedback crosses into personal attacks.

“You should also learn how to take criticisms, pero, not to the point where they would attack something that you know you’re not. So, why would I, you know, eh, wala naman ako tinatapakan na tao. So, I shouldn’t even be affected whatsoever.”

The content creator has been subjected to comments, especially regarding some of his videos, with some netizens labeling them as “aircon humor” or humor that seems way elitist or sophisticated. Russco explained that they are just being their natural selves.

“Ung mga aircon humor daw yung mga videos nyo kasi we’re just having fun. So wala naman akong tinatapakan na tao,” he pointed out.

Russco revealed that it’s actually his family who gets more affected by the comments than him. “Nanay ko yung nagbabasa ng comments. Mas nagagagalit pa siya kaysa sa akin. Well, naaasar sila mas galit pa kesa sa’kin. Gusto nila awayin sabi ko wag na, Ma. Kasi hindi ko naman sila kalala, di naman nila ako kilala. So, why would their opinion be important to me?”

In the meantime, Russ shared that he is open to exploring opportunities in the mainstream showbiz industry.

“I’m not closing my doors to anything naman. I just let things flow. If meron, I will consider. If it doesn’t meet yung deal na gusto ko, I won’t also force it. Parang ganun. I’m just going with the flow.”
