During the launch of his new endorsement, David Licauco was asked about his opinion on calls for Barbie Forteza and Jak Roberto to break up. Apparently, BarDa fans wish his leading lady would date him instead.

The “Maria Clara at Ibarra” actor first asked them to respect their personal lives. “They all have to respect ‘yung personal lives namin. Siyempre mahal niya si Jak Roberto, meron silang relationship even before our love team, so we have to respect that,” David told Philstar.com.

Nevertheless, he understands where the clamor comes from. “Pero siyempre maiintindihan mo rin naman ‘yung fans’ standpoint,” he added. “Hindi natin sila masisisi kung pinupush nila kami kasi iyon ang happiness nila and I think we [also] have to respect that.”

“Happy naman kaming nagpapasaya pero pinaka ayoko lang naman ‘yung binabash si Jak,” he clarified. “Nakikita ko ‘yung mga hate, although I truly appreciate the support talaga and ‘yon na nga, sabi ko, happiness nila ‘yon. Wala naman akong magagawa don at saka gusto ko masaya sila, pero spread positivity na lang siguro,” he concluded.

David Licauco and Barbie Forteza’s love team emerged from the historical drama series “Maria Clara at Ibarra” where the two starred alongside Dennis Trillo and Julie Ann San Jose. Following its success, they will be reuniting on TV in the upcoming remake of the 1991 romantic-comedy action film “Maging Sino Ka Man,” taking over the roles of Sharon Cuneta and Robin Padilla.

Barbie and David also starred together in the music video of Ben&Ben’s cover of “The Way You Look At Me,” originally performed by Christian Bautista.
