Barbie Hsu’s family is facing accusations of lying about the cause of her death, as mounting evidence suggests that she did not pass away solely due to the flu.

On the morning of February 4, Sohu unexpectedly published an article titled “The Real Cause of Barbie Hsu’s Death Revealed: Not the Flu, and Five Family Members Are Complicit.”

In the article, the outlet presented numerous pieces of evidence indicating that Barbie Hsu’s family misled the public about her medical condition. It also alleged that her family played a role in her tragic passing.

According to Sohu, based on the account of Barbie Hsu’s tour guide, the actress and her family traveled to Japan on January 29. At that time, she was already exhibiting symptoms of coughing and shortness of breath.

Despite this, her family continued their trip, enjoying four consecutive days at Hakone’s hot springs.

Additionally, a Japanese doctor disclosed that the true cause of Barbie Hsu’s death was sepsis, a condition caused by prolonged infection that was not treated in time.

Her failure to receive timely medical treatment caused her to miss the “golden 48 hours” – the critical window for effective intervention that could have saved her life.

After contracting the flu, she did not receive the necessary medical care, which led to the progression of her illness into acute pneumonia. This eventually resulted in sepsis and, ultimately, her death.

This statement directly contradicts the explanation given by her family to the media.

Sohu argued, “Both Barbie Hsu and her family were fully aware of her severe pre-existing conditions, such as epilepsy and mitral valve prolapse.”

Previously, her mother had revealed that Barbie had been taking anti-epileptic and anti-anxiety medication for an extended period.

Furthermore, when she exhibited severe symptoms such as coughing and shortness of breath, why did her family not take her to see a doctor immediately but instead continued with their vacation? This clearly worsened her condition.

Sohu also criticized Barbie Hsu’s family for their apparent indifference as her health deteriorated.

Although they requested privacy from the media, both her younger sister, Dee Hsu, and her mother posted videos of themselves happily dancing while Barbie was bedridden.

Her ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei, made only a symbolic appearance at the airport without taking any meaningful action, while her former mother-in-law, Zhang Lan, continued to livestream with a cold and detached attitude.

“Barbie Hsu’s family, including her mother, sister Dee Hsu, and ex-husband, bear significant responsibility for failing to make timely healthcare decisions. This is not just a lapse in medical care but also a display of neglect and irresponsibility toward their own family member,” Sohu concluded.
