Kathryn Bernardo took to social media to pen a heartwarming message for her mother, Min Bernardo, as the latter celebrated her birthday.

“They say you can’t choose your family, but if I had the chance, I’d still choose you to be my mom—over and over again,” she wrote on her Instagram page.

The Kapamilya star added: “Our relationship may not be perfect (lots of fights and misunderstandings🥹), but it’s the imperfect moments that made us stronger. They made me love you even more.”

Kathryn attributed the person that she has become to Min.

“You’re a big part of who I am today, Mama. We don’t say it much, but we love you dearly. Your happiness will always be my happiness. Happy Birthday! 🎂 -Love, your bunso (the most kulit and stressful one🙈),” she wrote.

In her Instagram post, Kathryn shared throwback snapshots of herself and her mom, including her school graduation, family moments, and milestones in her entertainment career.

Friends of Kathryn online were also quick to extend their birthday wishes for Min.

“Such heartwarming words any mom would love to hear. 😍 Happy birthday Min!” Arlene Muhlach commented.

“Awwwwww… You’re the sweetest, @bernardokath! 🥰 Happy Birthday to one super mom, Tita Min! ❤️,” Valerie Concepcion wrote.

Back in November 2024, Min witnessed a new milestone in Kathryn’s life as the actress received an award in the US, coinciding with the blockbuster success of Hello, Love, Again.

“Sobrang proud ako at ang buong pamilya natin sa lahat ng blessings na natatanggap mo at ng buong #HelloLoveAgain, anak!” Min wrote on social media.

She added: “Congratulations for receiving the Snow Leopard Rising Star Award at the 10th Asian World Film Festival! Love you! ❤️”

In April 2024, Kathryn’s family celebrated another milestone with the completion of their new home. They hosted a housewarming party attended by friends and family.

Kathryn Bernardo marked the holiday season by treating her team to a trip to Bangkok, Thailand.

Kathryn’s stylist, Boop Yap, shared the snapshots of their trip on social media.

“Great food and great friends that are family. ♥️ Thank you @bernardokath! 🤗😘” Boop posted on her Instagram page.

In the photos, Kathryn can be seen going on a food trip with her team and exploring different spots in Bangkok.

Kathryn was fresh from the blockbuster success of her movie with Alden Richards, Hello, Love, Again. The film earned more than Php1 billion in the global box office.

“Thank you sa lahat ng mga sumusuporta sa movie, sa lahat ng mga kababayan natin. Grabe, parte kayo nito,” Kathryn said in a previous interview with GMA News.

“Thank you for making this happen. Thank you for making this possible. Congratulations to us,” she added.

The actress also bagged the Snow Leopard Rising Star at the Asian World Film Festival (AWFF) in November.

“It feels so surreal to be standing here tonight receiving this award. Thank you so much to the Asian World Film Festival board of directors for this incredible honor, not only for recognizing my body of work but for celebrating all the stories that we as Asian artists continue to share for the world,” she said in her acceptance speech.

She went on: “I started at the age of 6 and over the years I’ve been fortunate to bring a variety of characters to life. Each one gave me something new, not just as an actor but as a person. 22 years —  I am still here pursuing my first love and my passion which is acting. Yes, I know it’s a tough job, but moments like tonight make it all worth it. It is such an honor being here representing my fellow Filipinos and my home network ABS-CBN.”

Kathryn Bernardo shared that building her family’s dream house is one of her most favorite milestones in her life.

The Kapamilya actress recently finished building her new house in the last quarter of the previous year.

“It’s very fulfilling kasi, more than my dream house, that house is really for my family, for my mama and papa. Not that they asked me to build that house for them, but it was like a promise to myself na someday I want to give them their dream house,” she remarked in an interview with Bianca Gonzalez in the TFC show BRGY.

The actress relayed that her family is now residing in the said house. Kathryn admitted that they are still adjusting living in such a massive space but she’s happy to see her parents happy.

“Ngayon dun kami naka-stay so every time I go home tapos gigising ka nandun, weird pa rin in a way kasi di kami sanay na sobrang ganun kalaki and it’s so nice because alam kong masaya ‘yung mom ko sa bahay,” she said.

Kathryn wants the home to be the main house of her family for generations to come.

“I want my nieces, my nephew and everyone parang iyon ‘yung magiging main house ng family na ‘pag may reunion dun pupunta, ‘pag may Sunday lunch or whatever. Parang iyon ‘yung ang magiging main headquarters ng family. ‘Yun na-envision ko,” she said.

The Hello, Love, Again star added: “More than the grandness of the house we wanted it to feel like home, especially for the kids. Kasi sila naman ‘yan eh. Sa next generation, ‘yung future family ko, ‘yung may mapupuntahan sila para lang sure na meron silang matatawag na home. Iyon ‘yung purpose nun.”

Kathryn pointed out that it took a lot of hard work to build her dream house but it was all worth it.

“It didn’t happen overnight and when it happened, iba siguro ‘yung happiness ko because alam ko kung paano ko siya painaghirapan. Ang tagal ko siyang pinagtrabahuan but it was all worth it noong nakita ko kung paano sila mama and papa ngayon. Maybe one of the major milestones ko from 2023 until now,” she remarked.

Once the highest-grossing Filipino movie of all time, Hello, Love, Goodbye showcased a different side of Kathryn. She plays the role of a domestic helper in Hong Kong with the aim of saving enough money to find a better job in Canada. Kathryn’s impeccable chemistry with Alden Richards in this film is enough reason as to why its sequel, Hello, Love, Again continues to become a massive success globally.
