On Maundy Thursday, April 17, 2025, the de Leon siblings — Ian, Lotlot, Matet, and Kenneth — addressed the public with heavy hearts. It was Ian who confirmed their mother’s passing, stating that Nora Aunor died peacefully the night before, surrounded by the people who loved her most.

“She loved sincerely. And that’s what made people love her in return,” Ian said in an emotional message. “She helped many, changed lives, and remained genuine through it all. That was the essence of who she was.”

Ian clarified that Nora’s passing followed complications after undergoing an angioplasty procedure on April 15. Though she survived the initial surgery, her condition rapidly declined thereafter, leading to another emergency procedure which she sadly did not survive.
