Three months after Alden Richards revealed that he almost got into a romantic relationship with Winwyn Marquez, it was the latter’s turn to admit that she was unsure about the actor’s intentions towards her in the past.

Marquez made the confession in an April 12 episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” where she was asked about her past relationship with Richards. The actor revealed in the same show back in January 2023 that he almost dated the beauty queen-turned-actress and Julie Anne San Jose.

“Noong dumalaw sa amin dito si Alden [Richards], na-mention niya na muntik [na kayong maging magkasintahan]. What is the story?” Abunda asked the beauty queen. (When Alden Richards appeared in the show, he mentioned that you almost dated in the past. What is the story?)

“I saw the clip [kasi] ang daming nag-tag sa akin [sa social media]. Tama naman sinabi ni Alden na dahil sa work pero there’s not really much to talk about because I consider him a really good friend. Hindi ko kasi alam kung nanligaw ba talaga siya,” she said in response.

(I saw the clip because a lot of people tagged me on social media. What Alden said was right, but there’s not really much to talk about because I consider him a really good friend. Because I really didn’t know if he tried to court me at that time.)

Marquez admitted that she was unsure about the “Victor Magtanggol” star’s intentions towards her at that time, although she noted that he’s “really kind” to everyone.

“Kasi si Alden, I don’t know if may misunderstanding or anything. He’s really kind, malambing siya, mabait siya. And I feel like he’s like that to everyone. Sobrang bait kasi niya. And we can talk about anything under the sun. So, I just felt like he was a really good friend,” she explained.

During the interview, the host then asked the actress to share if there were any moments where Richards expressed his romantic feelings towards her, even through actions such as giving flowers and chocolates.

“Wala naman pong ganoon. Wala pong ganoon (There wasn’t anything, there was nothing),” she said.

Abunda also asked Marquez about her thoughts over the Kapuso star’s revelation, to which the “Dahil sa Pag-ibig” star responded, “Wala naman po kasi tapos na eh. I don’t want to go back and dwell in the past because kahit anong sabihin natin, I’m so proud of him.”

The Kapuso actress also clarified that even if things didn’t work out between her and Richards, they remain “good friends” until this day.

“I’m so proud of his success. Seeing a friend na ginawa niya talaga ‘yung gusto niyang gawin, I would support him all the way. And we remain good friends,” she added. (I’m so proud of his success. Seeing a friend pursue what he really wants to do in life, I would support him all the way. And we remain good friends.)

In May 2019, Marquez revealed at a press conference that she can’t help but feel amused about being linked to Richards. “I just laughed it off. I was surprised—saan nanggaling ’yun,” she said.

The Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 titleholder also described the actor as a “kind and charming person,” noting that “anyone can fall for him.”

The “Lihim ni Urduha” welcomed her baby girl in May 2022 with her non-showbiz boyfriend, whose identity she prefers to keep private.
