Naniniwala si Sam Milby, 40, na hindi lang physical act ang basehan ng cheating.

Sinabi niya ito sa presscon ng Everything About My Wife, ang pelikulang pinagbibidahan nila nina Dennis Trillo at Jennylyn Mercado.

Sentro ng tema ng pelikula ang tungkol sa mag-asawang dumadaan sa matinding pagsubok, at waring pinalala pa ng isyung third party.

Mag-asawa sa pelikula sina Jennylyn at Dennis. May eksena sa trailer kunsaan sinabi ni Sam na nahuhulog na ang loob sa kanya ng karakter ni Jennylyn.

Ano ang opinyon ni Sam sa cheating?

Sagot niya: “Para sa akin, temptation is always around.

“Especially with social media, you’ll see pictures, you’ll crave feelings. If you do act on them, that’s cheating.

“If you are flirting or leading someone on, that’s emotional cheating. If you’re getting past that in a physical manner, that’s obviously cheating.”

Nagbigay si Sam ng depinisyon niya sa emotional cheating.

Aniya, “There are different kinds of cheating. Most people are just looking at the physical aspect. But I think there’s also emotional cheating.”

Aware raw dapat ang couple sa boundaries nila sa pakikitungo nila sa opposite sex.

“If you’re married, if you’re giving in, if you’re emotionally attached to the opposite sex, and you’re giving in to that.

“That’s also a way of cheating because you’re giving part of yourself that you’re supposed to be giving to your kasintahan mo, the person who’s supposed to be the only one in your life.”

SAM MILBY ON GIVING A CHEATER A SECOND CHANCE

Sa isang banda, naniniwala rin si Sam na hindi striktong non-negotioble sa kanya ang cheating.

“We’re human. We make mistakes. I have a few friends that made that mistake,” lahad ni Sam sa panayam ng The Philippine Star at PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) pagkatapos ng presscon.

Case-to-case basis daw.

Patuloy niya: “It’s what you do with the mistake that you make.

“If you show remorse. If you show an effort na parang, ‘I made a mistake. I’m so sorry. I will make all the effort para bumawi.’

“I believe in second chances.”

Pero hindi rin naman daw garantiya ang paghingi ng tawad na magkakabalikan ang isang couple.

“It’s so hard. Kung sino man ang tao, they have every right to leave the person if they cheated, mas lalo na kung mag-asawa.

“But I still truly believe in second chances. But it’s up to that person that was wronged.”

Basta mahalaga raw ay may pag-amin ang nagkasala na nagkamali ito at papatunayan nito na hindi na mauulit ang kasalanan nito.

“If you feel the sincerity… Like, ‘I made a mistake. I’m so sorry. You are the only one that I want. I did make a mistake.’

“Humility is so important for me. Humility and honesty and that genuine [remorse].”

Dagdag ni Sam: “Obviously, it’s a different thing when youre married.

“Especially in the Philippines, there are so many cases like that.

“And it’s a choice. You can choose—if you want to leave, you have the right.

“Pero if you feel that sincerity… We’re human, we deserve a second chance.

“For me, I think people can make bawi.”

WHAT SAM MILBY LEARNED FROM THE MOVIE

Samantala, natutunan ni Sam sa karakter niya sa pelikula na huwag sukuan ang tunay na pag-ibig.

“My character kasi parang nag-give up na siya sa pag-ibig. He had the love of his life and then nawala na siya sa buhay niya. Sumuko na siya.

“And, he’s trying to fill his life with mga flings. Feeling niya, ‘I’m just gonna enjoy coz I’m not gonna find a love like that.’

“But lagi may pag-asa para sa pag-ibig. I think that’s the main thing.”

Ipapalabas ang Everything About My Wife sa mga sinehan simula February 26.
