On February 3rd, the family of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu confirmed that she had passed away due to seasonal flu and pneumonia while on a trip to Japan. According to the 163 news outlet, Koo Jun Yup, her husband, was not with her during the trip. At the time of  Barbie’s passing, the South Korean singer was in Taiwan. The sudden tragedy left Koo Jun Yup devastated and in deep sorrow.

According to the latest report from ETtoday, Koo Jun Yup has been unreachable. The singer has not responded to any calls from family or friends. The situation is even more concerning because no one currently knows his whereabouts. “He’s in Taiwan, but we’re in a situation where we’ve lost contact. We really don’t know where he is. In Taiwan, he only had Barbie Hsu as his close family and support. We, along with Barbie Hsu’s relatives, went to his house to search for him, but couldn’t find him,” a close friend of the couple expressed their concern.

Before this, on the afternoon of February 3rd, the South Korean outlet Ilgan Sports had an interview with Koo Jun Yup after Barbie Hsu’s passing.

The actor confirmed he was in a very bad state, responding with only three words: “I’m not okay.” According to Ilgan Sports, DJ Koo’s voice was filled with sadness, as if he could not believe the heartbreaking news that his wife had passed away abroad.

Barbie Hsu and DJ Koo started dating in 1998. At the time, DJ Koo was a famous singer in South Korea and frequently performed in Taiwan.

There, the two met while working on a TV show and quickly fell in love, keeping their relationship a secret. However, just a year later, they had to break up due to pressure from their managers. Barbie later married businessman Wang Xiao Fei, while DJ Koo remained single.

In 2021, after that divorce, DJ Koo boldly called her on her old phone number. She answered the call, and they quickly rekindled their romance. After several months of conversations, DJ Koo proposed to Barbie, and she accepted. The South Korean star expressed, “Let’s become a family before it’s too late.” On March 8, 2022, Barbie and Koo Jun Yup announced their remarriage. They completed their marriage registration in South Korea and Taiwan, and later held a small wedding ceremony at home in June of the same year.

Now, just three years into their marriage, tragedy has struck, and they have been separated by death.
