Gloria Romero’s daughter, Maritess Gutierrez, and grandson, Chris Balbin, have received an apology from the owner of a Facebook page that spread false information about the veteran actress’ supposed last will and testament.

On Inquirer’s report, it stated that several social media posts and art cards circulated online, falsely claiming that Romero had over P700 million in the bank, with specific percentages allegedly allocated for building a provincial high school and supporting charitable institutions.

Maritess shared the public apology from the Facebook page Pinoy History on her Instagram Stories on Thursday, Feb. 6. The page owner admitted that their team was responsible for “creating false information that misled the public.”

Here is the apology of the page as shared by the veteran actress’ daughter via Inquirer.

“For the information of the public, what you read in the post is wrong, incorrect and false news, Ms. Maritess did not even give an interview about it. In the desire of one of our admin to make her departure better, this ended up being a great shame on our part,” it said.

“We regret the wide dissemination of the photo that was turned into a vlog and shared thousands of times. I hope that with this post, we correct what is wrong,” it added. “What we did caused another sadness and worry to the family at the time when we should be giving condolences.”

“Again, to Ms. Maritess and Sir Balbin, on behalf of the team, we sincerely and humbly apologize.”

Gloria Romero is a renowned Filipino actress with a career spanning over seven decades in Philippine cinema and television. Born on December 16, 1933, she rose to fame in the 1950s and became one of the most iconic leading ladies of her era. She starred in numerous classic films under Sampaguita Pictures, including Dalagang Ilocana (1954), which earned her the first-ever FAMAS Best Actress award.
