Kathryn Bernardo hopes to work with Piolo, Vilma, Jericho

MANILA — After renewing her contract with ABS-CBN, Kapamilya actress Kathryn Bernardo opened up about the artists she wants to work with in the future and an update on the period film she’s working on.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Bernardo said she hopes to work with Piolo Pascual, Jericho Rosales, and Vilma Santos.
“He’s Papa P., sino’ng ayaw na maka-trabaho si Papa P. Safe to say na lumaki ako na kasama sila kasi we have the same handler… Ta’s nagkita kami nung kay Mr. M (Johnny Manahan) na lunch and then nakapag-usap. Of course I’m willing to work with Papa P. Who can say no to that?” Bernardo said in an interview for the digital series “On Cue.”
“I respect him so much as an actor but then nung nakilala ko siya bilang tao and feeling ko makaka-attest dito lahat ng nandito sa ABS-CBN na he’s so loved by many because of his personality. And ‘yan ‘yung isa sa mga traits na nai-inspire ako. He’s so loved,” she added.
“I’m open to work with everybody now, especially Echo. He’s been very vocal. Nakasama ko siya ng ilang days dahil sa magkakasunod na events,” Bernardo said.
“And he’s such a nice guy, sobrang bait niya. So ayaw mo bang makatrabaho ‘yung ganoon? Let’s just see. I just wish that maybe the universe will do something about it.”
Bernardo also thanked Santos for thinking of her to star if ever they do a remake of “Ang T-Bird at Ako,” adding that she’s also open to work with the multi-awarded actress.
“Sobrang Vilmanian ‘yung mom ko. Napanood ko ‘yung ‘Anak’ and I just respect her so much. Thank you so much po for that compliment po,” she said.
Meanwhile, Bernardo said her film “Elena 1944” with director Olivia Lamasan will still push through, while some other project might be in works as well.
Announced by Star Cinema last year, “Elena 1944” is about a young Filipina who is taken from her village to a Japanese military camp to serve as a sex slave during World War II. She endures abuse but finds solace in a friendship with a Japanese soldier.
“Since it’s a period movie, medyo kailangan ng time talaga especially with Inang (Lamasan). Hindi naman ako nagmamadali, it’s just there, so anuman ‘yung kailangang unahin before ‘Elena’ that’s what I’m gonna do,” Bernardo said of the war drama.
“Maybe a series before or maybe a movie but ‘Elena’ is just there I’ll just wait for Inang, whenever she’s ready. No pressure,” she added.
