AWARD-WINNING actress Kathryn Bernardo opened up about experiencing birthday blues a few days before she turns 29, saying she feels “so lost” as she copes with adulting.

Kathryn Bernardo admits feeling 'lost’ in life as 29th birthday approaches

The Kapamilya star admitted this during a media conference for the seventh season of the reality talent competition “Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT),” where she was asked about the bravest thing she had done for herself.

“I’m turning 29 in a few days. I’m at a point in my life again wherein I feel so lost and I felt this when I gave a message for our Thanksgiving party for ‘The Hows of Us,’” Bernardo said.

She shared that she did not expect to feel lost in life again but acknowledged that it is part of adulting that she needs to overcome.

“To be honest, I’m so scared, I’m so lost but I think it’s so brave na every day I show up,” she stressed. “I show up and I choose to grow and accept all the uncertainties.”

“I think siguro birthday blues lang ’to, may quarter-life crisis na parang, ‘What’s next for me?’ Parang I’m feeling all these emotions. Feeling ko it’s just brave na tinanggap ko ‘yon, I’m allowing myself to be vulnerable,” she continued.

Bernardo said she is in her “transition age” where she moves to her own place. While it is not an easy decision, the actress believes moving out is an important step in her personal growth.

“Yes, I’m scared. I don’t know what will happen, I don’t know if I can do it, but I’m just here for it. I’m just very open and I’m here for growth,” she expressed.

The actress will turn 29 on March 26. Last year, Bernardo celebrated her birthday with her family and friends in El Nido, Palawan.

Becoming a ‘PGT’ judge

Following the success of “Hello, Love, Again,” Bernardo is taking a new role as one of the judges of the forthcoming season of “PGT” along with Mr. Freddie M. Garcia (FMG), Eugene Domingo, and Donny Pangilinan.

During the media conference, Bernardo highlighted how different and important her role as a judge in the reality-talent competition compared to her previous projects.

“Nag-set na ako sa utak ko na, ‘Okay, it’s gonna be a different experience.’ Pero iba pala ‘pag nandyan ka na talaga. Minsan, iniisip ko pag-uwi ko from taping, nire-recap ko lahat ng mga nakita ko performances that day, and then iisipin ko if tama ‘yung nabigay kong advice and ‘yung ‘yesses’ and ‘noes’ na binigay ko that day,” she shared.

“Because, like ‘yung sinabi kanina, meron kaming power to change a person’s dream or to make that dream come true. We can be part of that dream. So, our ‘yesses,’ it’s so powerful, and ‘yung ‘noes’ namin, it’s so hard,” she added.

Aside from helping scout new talents, Bernardo shared that she also learned a lot from those who auditioned for the show.

“Akala niyo kami ‘yung nagme-mentor sa kanila, but then feeling ko ang dami kong natutunan sa bawat nagpe-perform,” she said, stressing how fortunate she is to be surrounded by good mentors who guide her in her career in the show business industry.

“And now, I think, it’s time to share what I’ve learned through the years. I know I’m very young, I’m not experienced enough, but I think this is my way of paying it forward sa kanila naman,” she added.

First aired in 2010, “PGT” is based on Simon Cowell’s talent show “Got Talent” where individuals showcase various talents including singing, dancing, and acrobats.

The show’s forthcoming season will be hosted by Robi Domingo and Melai Cantiveros.

It will premiere on March 29 and 30 and air on Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 8:30 p.m. on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5.
