Enrique Gil expressed his desire to star in another romantic-comedy project.

In a recent interview with MJ Marfori and other media outlets, the actor shared that rom-com remains his “core” genre but emphasized the need to bring something fresh to the table.

“It’s my core eh but we want to put a twist into it. So definitely I think it’s time also to get back into my groove but of course we will be doing something different para hindi lang siya the same. May twist, so may change,” he said.

When asked about rumors of a possible team-up with Nadine Lustre, Enrique replied: “I am not sure about that. I’m not sure. But I’ve heard about that too.”

Enrique highlighted that he is open to work with anyone, including Nadine. “I am open to work with anybody, so it’s Nadine, if it’s somebody else, I just wanna work. I’m super excited,” he said.

Enrique recently entered into a multi-picture partnership with Manny Pangilinan’s MQuest Ventures. Through his production company, Slingshot Studios, the actor-producer will co-produce projects in collaboration with MQuest.

“MediaQuest is such a huge company so we were talking to Jane (Jimenez-Basas, MQuest Ventures President and CEO), they wanna go big so alright that’s super exciting for us. Now we can really just go big with our concepts and most of our concepts they really love it and like it. At this point, the sky is the limit for what we can pitch and produce so hopefully everything works out,” he relayed.

Enrique added: “But of course, siyempre business pa rin ‘to, hindi pwedeng just go crazy but it’s very good that we can play around a little bit, which is very exciting.”

The actor made his return to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) last year with Strange Frequencies: Taiwan Killer Hospital, a film in which he not only starred but also co-produced.

This marks his second venture into film production, following his involvement in I Am Not Big Bird, his much-anticipated comeback movie in 2024. As he continues to navigate the world of producing, Enrique remains steadfast in his commitment to delivering high-quality films.

“Ako, quality talaga more than anything,” he emphasized in an interview at the press conference of Strange Frequencies last year.

As a rising producer, Enrique shared that he enjoys being part of the creative process of film production.

“Creating, having a say on things. Creating stuff. In a way, being an actor, you also create, eh. You create your character, you play like this. But to be able to create more than just a character but stories, scenes, collaborate more, create genres na hindi pa nagagawa… I think mas exciting sa akin ‘yun kasi ‘yun talaga ang gusto kong gawin, matagal na,” he stated.
