Kim Chiu gave Metro an exclusive access to her room preparations for the ABS-CBN Ball 2025. Before things got busier that day, the My Love Will Make You Disappear leading lady chatted with us about her look for the highly anticipated event.

As it was the first time the ABS-CBN Ball had a spring formal theme and dress code, Kim said she and her glam team considered going for colors and a garden-inspired look. But in the end, since it’s a ball, they decided on a classic glamorous look with a touch of floral. “My stylist, Adrianne Concepcion, and I, nag-usap kami na parang elegant pa rin pero at the same time andu’n pa rin ‘yung spring, so touch lang ng spring ‘yung in-apply namin sa gown.”

Francis Libiran created Kim’s gown. The designer sent the piece to Kim with a note that read: “This gold metallic gown was designed to reflect your boldness and radiance. The shimmering fabric, with its deep V-neckline, halter cut, and dramatic side cut-outs, was made to celebrate confidence and sophistication. The high slit and fitted silhouette enhance your striking presence, ensuring that every moment captures the light.” Her stylist accessorized her look with jewelry from Oro China and heels by Rene Caovilla.

Describing the stunning outfit, Kim chose the adjectives sophisticated, elegant, and skin. No doubt one of the best-dressed ladies of the night, Kim looked gorgeous from head to toe, with her bold yet tasteful makeup by Mariah Santos and sleek hair by RJ dela Cruz. “It’s a rare moment that they see me wearing a red lipstick, so this is something different for me,” Kim noted.

We asked: What summer destination best encapsulates her look? “It’s Jordan. Kasi parang ‘yun ‘yung nasa feed ko ngayon e, ‘yung parang stones ng Jordan, ‘yung view ng Jordan, ‘yung mga roses ng Jordan. Parang ganun ‘yung vibe niya,” she replied animatedly.

Spring is about florals, too, so we were curious about her favorite flower and delighted to know it’s peoony, which is known to symbolize love, happiness, and good fortune.

Since Kim has always been known for championing a healthy and active lifestyle, she said she just limited her sweet and carb intake to get ready for the ABS-CBN Ball and showcase her side-baring outfit better. “Kasi ‘pag kumakain ka ng sweets, napupunta siya sa love handles, so hindi muna ako nag-sweets for one week, two weeks,” she told us, later saying that she’d want to eat halo-halo after the event.

“I just want to enjoy the red carpet moment and the photos here and there,” she quipped. “Kasi this is like a celebration of all the stars of ABS-CBN.”

Joining Kim on the red carpet was her My Love Will Make You Disappear leading man, Paulo Avelino, marking the first time they attended the prestigious event together. With their movie now on its second week, Kim talked about how happy she is because of the overwhelming support they’ve been receiving locally and globally. It’s been rewarding for Kim to read so many positive comments about their movie. She said they’re also pleasantly surprised that many senior citizens, who usually don’t leave their houses, stepped out to watch My Love Will Make You Disappear.

Kim shared, “Nakakatuwa na parang it’s become a family celebration or family bonding. So parang bumabalik na talaga ang mga tao sa sinehan and with the rom-com genre na talagang after [the] pandemic, medyo hindi talaga siya pinapasok sa sinehan. Now, we’re really celebrating that rom-com is back in the cinemas.”
