Facing Fears, Building Friendships, and Acting in the Rain: Inside the Emotional Journey of Kim and Paulo’s Latest Film

Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino talk about My Love Will Make You Disappear

In an exclusive interview with Greg Sasti of Deepest Dream, Kim and Paulo opened up about their fears, dreams, and the challenges of creating one of the most heartfelt and emotional films of their careers.

Conquering Fears to Chase Dreams

Kim shared that stepping into the entertainment industry was not without its challenges. Coming from a conservative Chinese family, she feared that pursuing acting might not be accepted. “I was really scared that time,” she admitted. “But I still pushed myself and followed my dreams, letting my fears stay behind me.”

For Paulo, self-doubt was his greatest hurdle. “My fear was that I was never going to be enough. There was always someone better than me,” he confessed. Yet both actors pushed past these fears to achieve the success they enjoy today.

The Power of Vulnerability

The film’s most emotional scene revolves around Sari, a 30-something woman baring her soul about love and life’s realities. Kim described it as “the hardest part” of her role, admitting she was nervous and uncertain if she could give her all. “It’s like Sari being naked in front of Jolo,” she explained.

Paulo, who plays Jolo, praised Kim’s performance, saying, “I just listened and reacted. It was sincere, and that’s what made it work.”

Friendship: A Source of Strength

Both actors emphasized how their friendship helped them navigate the highs and lows of their careers. “It’s nice to have someone to share everything with, especially frustrations and successes,” Kim said. Paulo added, “Sometimes, family isn’t just about blood but about the bonds you build. Kim has been that kind of family for me.”

Braving the Rain

One of the film’s most grueling challenges was shooting under constant rain. The actors recalled shivering during the production, a stark contrast to the Philippines’ usual tropical heat. “It was freezing!” Paulo laughed, while Kim added, “But sometimes, you use the environment to fuel your emotions, and that’s what we did.”

A Heartfelt Thank You

The actors wrapped up the interview with gratitude for their fans. “We love the support, and it’s what keeps us going,” Kim said with a smile.

This film is more than just a story—it’s a testament to resilience, friendship, and the beauty of facing fears head-on. Don’t miss the chance to witness Kim and Paulo’s heartfelt performances in this deeply moving film.
