Dina Bonnevie Opens Up About Past With Vico Sotto: A Story of Pain, Redemption, and Forgiveness
Veteran actress Dina Bonnevie recently shared a heartfelt revelation about her past encounters with Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, the son of her ex-husband Vic Sotto and Coney Reyes. Her candid account, originally shared in a 2020 interview and now trending online, sheds light on the emotional complexities of their shared history.
The Painful Encounter
In the interview, Dina recounted the first time she met a young Vico, who was born in 1989, three years before her marriage with Vic was annulled. She recalled how Vic brought Vico to her home to introduce him.
“I remember Vic brought him to the house,” Dina said. “I gave him Oyo’s old clothes, nursery books, and toys—Oyo had so many toys. I wanted to welcome him.”
Despite her efforts, Dina noticed an emotional distance between them, particularly in later years when Vico would avoid her at church. She shared, “For a while, when he saw me at church, he would avoid me. It was like he didn’t want to see me because I reminded him of the sin.”
Dina, however, made sure to assure Vico that he was not at fault. “I told him, ‘No, it’s not your fault, and it was never your fault, so don’t feel that way.’”
Healing and Forgiveness
While the circumstances surrounding Vico’s birth were painful for Dina, she shared that time and faith have helped her heal and move forward. She revealed that she had once harbored ill feelings toward Vico’s mother, Coney Reyes, but their relationship has since been mended.
“My life has been an open book. Everyone knew about my fight with a friend because of my former partner, my husband. It was painful, but God is good. We’ve forgiven each other. He really finds a way to heal our hearts and our relationships,” Dina said.
Admiration for Vico and Coney
Dina also expressed her admiration for how Coney raised Vico, praising her as a strong and capable mother. “I admire her for that… for doing it on her own. Kudos to her. Vico is a very intelligent boy,” Dina shared.
Moving Forward
Dina Bonnevie’s story is one of resilience, grace, and forgiveness. It reminds us that even in the most complicated situations, healing is possible through time, understanding, and faith. Her journey not only highlights the struggles of navigating blended families but also the beauty of reconciliation and redemption.
As Dina and Vico continue to forge their paths, their story remains a testament to the enduring power of love and forgiveness in overcoming life’s challenges.
