BFF Buboy (a.k.a. Cesar Montano) and I share so much in common, except for our political beliefs. With the recent turn of events, I chided BFF, “I saw a video of your speech at the rally of your fave politico, but sorry I did not click the like button.”
He shot back, “No prob, BFF. Our friendship is more important than politics.” Then in jest, he said, “Ganito nalang. Kung sino sa manok natin ang manalo, manlibre ng wine.”
We may not think alike (in terms of politics), but we drink alike.
Buboy is raring to start his vlog, “Kwentong Barbero with Cesar Montano.” We had a brainstorming sesh with the superb WeCamp Entertainment team (the team that handles my DollywoodPH YouTube Channel).
“After watching your vlogs, na enganyo na rin ako sumapi sa kulto ng YT,” Buboy said, chuckling. The director in him has so many unique concepts for his foray into the digital world.
Cesar is also busy putting up his barber shop, Scissor Montano.
“I will display my pics as the characters I portrayed in my movies like ‘Muro Ami,’ ‘Jose Rizal,’ ‘Machete,’ etc. in my barber shop,” he pointed out. “So, the customers can choose which look to copy.”
That’s HAIRrific!

Chanda’s revelation
What an interesting interview I had with Chanda Romero on my vlog. (Her episode is coming up soon.) She redefines what being ageless is. As a teaser, let me share one of her revelations.
“Back in the day when I was still doing bold movies, there were times my screen partner and I got carried away in our love scenes. As much as we try to keep it professional, we are only human. The lines between the character we play and our persona blur.”
At 70, Chanda is still in demand. She’s now part of “Batang Quiapo.” The veteran actress shows us how we must not let our age be a cage.
Viva One’s Pinoy version of ‘Bad Genius’
Does the end justify the means? Find out in the Pinoy adaptation of the Thai global blockbuster, “Bad Genius” (by Studio Viva and streaming soon on Viva One). It’s about a straight-A student who takes a crooked path by devising a cheating money-making scheme. It is topbilled by Atasha Muhlach, Jairus Aquino, Hyacinth Callado and Gab Lagman. At the helm of the riveting series is Derick Cabrido.
A little mischief is necessary to enjoy school life. When you follow all the rules, you miss out on the fun. But “Bad Genius: The Series” will make you wonder if turning bad, because you need money badly, is worth the price you pay.
Here are quotes from Atasha (A) and Derick (D):
A: I enjoyed the original Thai version. I watched it when I was still in school, so it’s surreal to be tapped to play the lead role. Portraying a girl gone bad will make me step out of my comfort zone.
D: The pressure is there because it’s a remake of a worldwide hit. So, expectations are high. The standard has been set. We are up for the challenge. Of course, we will put a Pinoy flavor to the Thai story.
A: I would rather be street-smart than intelligent. Life is not confined to being in the classroom. We must have ‘diskarte’ in life in order to succeed.
D: We don’t intend to send the wrong signals and glorify cheating in our series. There’s a moral lesson to be learned.
A: My dad and I always have a script reading sesh. He gives me pointers. It’s like I have my own acting workshop at home.

‘PostMortem’
Brace yourself for a gripping tale filled with unexpected twists in “PostMortem’ (PM). The first feature film of WeCamp Entertainment and Square One Studios is now showing in cinemas, featuring Jai Asuncion, Agassi Ching, Alex Medina, Mike Lloren and Sachzna Laparan.
Megged by Tom Nava, it centers on the investigation of a paranormal phenomenon, where a paranormally gifted person, can eavesdrop on a dead person’s recent memories by examining their dead bodies and determine the cause of death.
Director Tom expressed excitement about the project, stating, “‘PM’ is not just a film about mystery; it’s a story about redemption, the human spirit, and the lengths we go to uncover the truth.”
Watch it and watch out!
