Despite receiving offers to run for public office, Ivana Alawi reiterated that she has no plans to join politics while reiterating that it is meant to be a form of public service.

Alawi reiterated in a thanksgiving event that entering politics is a responsibility that requires public servants to improve the state of the country, according to a report from Inquirer Bandera.

“Ang pagtakbo talaga is for the country. Kailangan natin lumaban at lumevel up, ‘no? So ‘yun, hindi talaga ako tatakbo kasi wala naman akong alam diyan,” she said.

(Running for a position is for the country. It is about creating laws that will improve the state of our country. We have to fight for our country and level up. This is why I don’t want to run for public office because I don’t know anything about it.)

The actress-content creator also shared that she received offers to enter politics, saying it had something to do with videos of herself giving back to others.

(Running for a position in the Philippines is more than content creation. I received offers to enter politics since I give back to people. But I don’t give back for the sake of running for a position in public office. You don’t have to run for a position to give back.)

Political endorsements

Alawi also revealed that she received offers from politicians to endorse them for the upcoming midterm elections, although she noted that she’s “choosy” with whom she will vote for. She, however, declined to disclose the identities who reached out to her for possible endorsements.

I am very particular and choosy when it comes to politicians. It is not for me and my family. It is for the Philippines, our countrymen, and who can improve our country),” she said per report.

The actress-content creator also explained that while she doesn’t have an idea about politics, she knows how to “choose the right leader.”

(I am choosy with selecting the senators and congressmen I’ll vote for. What if they wanted to run for themselves? I don’t know anything about politics but I know how to choose the right leader. Of course, I make sure to check the laws they created because it’s very important to me.)

This is not the first time Alawi said no to entering politics. She said in a TikTok video in October 2024 that she has no plans to be a politician as she didn’t want to “put the Philippines at risk.”
