Julia Barretto shared her learnings on living independently and moving to her own house when she was 22.

The actress has been living in her own home since 2019.

“It’s still one of mom’s greatest gifts to me. She really let me fly and learn to be independent on my own,” she said in an interview with Bianca Gonzalez for the TFC show BRGY.

The actress admitted that it was challenging living independently at the beginning.

“It was hard kasi everything she was doing for me – bills, talking to people dati siya… mom sira ‘to, mom pabili ng ganito. Pero after a while, wow thank you mom kasi now you feel more na parang you know na kaya mo na on your own, so it’s a gift that she gave me [which] I’m grateful for,” she highlighted.

Julia also confessed that she felt a bit lonely initially since was already leaving apart from her family.  “But I think because of that, our [family] travels are even more special because wow, we’re together again in one house,” she said.

The actress relayed that it was actually her mom’s idea for her to build her own house.

“Kasi ang sikip na raw ng bahay niya, ang dami ko na raw gamit, ‘yung kotse ko naka-park sa bahay  niya. [She said], you need to build your own space,” she said.

Julia recently starred in the blockbuster movie Un/Happy for You alongside Joshua Garcia.

In a previous interview as reported by Inquirer, Julia shared why his onscreen tandem with Joshua Garcia worked.

“We both chose to move forward, to be happy and grateful for that chapter in our lives. I think it’s all about having the right mindset coming into a project and coming together again to do this,” she remarked.

Julia is set to star in the Metro Manila Film Festival entry Hold Me Close this December.
