Julia Barretto broke her silence about the allegations thrown at her and her team about their involvement in the temporary closure of the areas she visited in Camiguin for her YouTube vlog. The actress denied these allegations which were written by one netizen who happened to be in the area during the time of their filming.
Julia’s Camiguin vlog has yet to be uploaded as of this writing but she has posted some snaps of their recent trip to the island on her Instagram account.
The actress recalled how they were given the opportunity to visit Camiguin last March 1 to 3. She explained how she and her team partnered with the local leaders of the province to showcase the island’s beauty in her vlog.
“We partnered with them on a tourism project aimed at showcasing the island’s rich history, culture, and natural beauty. It was an honor to contribute to their vision and support the local community,” she recalled.
However, Julia expressed how shocked she was to find out that a netizen wrote a Facebook post about her and her team closing down parts of the province for her shoot.
“I have recently been made aware of false accusations regarding my involvement in temporary area closures during our shoot. A particular NIKKA KHO has publicly claimed that I ordered these closures, labeling me as entitled and selfish,” she wrote.
She maintained that she didn’t have any involvement in closing down the sites they visited which were in coordination with the local government. She admitted that she had an idea that certain areas were temporarily closed but she claimed that she didn’t have the power to do so.
“To assume that I had the authority to dictate such decisions is both unfair and misleading.
“While I usually do not engage with baseless accusations, I will not tolerate misinformation that misrepresents my character, my work, or the purpose of Juju On The Go,” she added.
The post of the netizen has since then been switched to private and their profile has been locked as of this writing. Fans, however, have kept screenshots of the post and the edits that were made.
Julia expressed that she is seeking legal advice as she felt wronged by the accusations thrown at her.
“I take this matter seriously and am currently seeking legal advice regarding the spread of false and misleading information, including a manipulated TikTok video with fake audio that aims to misrepresent me,” she revealed.
She then directed her message towards the netizen and hoped she wouldn’t experience anything like this in the future.
“I hope neither you nor anyone in your life would have to experience the kind of unfounded attack and cruel words you have directed at me without having knowledge of what has transpired. Words have weight, and spreading misinformation can cause real harm,” she ended.
The netizen has yet to issue an official statement as of this writing.
