Julia Barretto encouraged women struggling with self-care to give themselves “a lot of grace” and embrace their imperfections on top of beauty standards and societal pressures.

Barretto, who’s known for her beauty and substance, admitted that she herself struggled with insecurities, and being kinder to herself helped her overcome them.

“You know what, it’s okay that you are getting through that phase, even I did. Give yourself a lot of grace. It’s okay not to be perfect. It’s okay not to have it all figured out now. Give yourself some time. Get to know yourself. Be kinder and more accepting of yourself. Everything will just come naturally for you,” she told INQUIRER.net in a one-on-one interview during a product launch for a face-care brand on Thursday, March 20.

The 28-year-old actress emphasized that in terms of dealing with self-care, whether it be physical or emotional, it’s better to explore different ways, saying, “[But] it’s okay if they don’t work. Someday you will find something that will work for you. Just go girl because you got it!”

Given that summer just kicked off in the Philippines, Barretto also shared her plans for the sunny season, saying, “Actually, I’m just gonna be working for the entire summer, but knowing me, I’m still gonna find a way to be at the beach with sunscreen, of course.”

Barretto is currently occupied with upcoming film and TV projects including “What Lies Beneath,” “Hello Heaven” and “Artista Academy.”

In 2023, the “UnHappy for You” actress marked a bold step in embracing her womanhood after she served as a calendar girl for a liquor brand. At the time, Barretto stressed that she aimed to inspire others to “be brave and come out of their shell.”
