Rem Zamora’s production of Drew Gasparini’s “We Aren’t Kids Anymore” will be staged on May 2025 featuring Gab Pangilinan, Maronne Cruz, Gio Gahol, Luigi Quesada, and Myke Salomon as the cast.

The staging of the coming-of-age musical was announced by Barefoot Theatre Collaborative in a press statement. It will run from May 2 to 25 in Makati.

The 90-minute musical revolves around the “messy reality of growing up,” touching on themes of how dreams turn out differently, how initial goals didn’t end up what was hoped for, and how the world ended up being more uncomfortable than one imagined.

“It consists of gut-punching songs from five people navigating the changes that come with the realization that life doesn’t come with a manual. This show will hit hard for anyone who has ever felt lost, stuck, or unsure of the way forward,” Barefoot said in a statement.

The musical features a poem by Keith White and is known for its songs “Hello, My Name Is Drew,” “Turn the Page,” “I Wish I Never Met You,” “I’m Not Falling For That,” and “What The Hell am I Doing with My Life,” to name a few.

Zamora will take charge of the new production as the director, while Salomon and Farley Asuncion will serve as the musical directors. Jomelle Era, Joey Mendoza, and Hershee Tantiado were tapped as movement director, production designer, and associate production designer, respectively.

Meanwhile, D Cortezano will serve as the lighting designer and technical director while Aron Roca was chosen to be the sound designer.

“We Aren’t Kids Anymore” was originally meant to be Gasparini’s autobiographical work but it has since evolved into a concept album before turning its storyline into a musical.
