Kim Chiu is set to receive the Outstanding Asian Star trophy at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2024. The award ceremony is set to happen on September 25, 2024 at Yeouido KBS Hall in Seoul, South Korea.

On Instagram, Kim shared that she’s been invited by the Seoul Drama Awards to receive her award. She wrote, ‘I am lost for words… beyond thankful, grateful, and extremely happy!!! I can’t believe this is happening.’ She then thanked the Seoul Drama Awards 2024, ABS-CBN, Dreamscape Entertainment, and her supporters ‘for all the unconditional love, support, time, effort, and much more.’

Kim added, ‘I am very lucky to have you all behind and beside me. Thank you for making this possible!’

Kim was nominated for the Outstanding Asian Star award for her role in the drama thriller series Linlang (also known as Deceit), where she played the role of Juliana Alcantara-Lualhati. In the series, she is paired with Paulo Avelino as Victor Lualhati, Juliana’s husband who’s investigating her affair.

Kim won in the online voting for the Outstanding Asian Star (Philippines category) at the Seoul International Drama Awards 2024, garnering 65.03% of the votes.

Other Asian artists who reigned supreme in the voting results for Outstanding Asian Star included Lovely Runner stars Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon for Korea, Ochi Rosdiana for Indonesia, Siti Saleha for Malaysia, Win Metawin for Thailand, and Desmond Tan for Singapore.

Filipino artists who were previously recognized at the Seoul International Drama Awards were Belle Mariano (2022) and Kathryn Bernardo (2023).

Seoul Drama Awards (SDA) has been around since 2005. As the world’s first drama award, it promotes cultural exchange through dramas. According to SDA, ‘‘Outstanding Asian Star’ is conducted by voting for actors who have excelled in dramas over the past year. Particularly in Korea, the awards are divided into male and female categories and feature actors and actresses who have performed outstandingly in Korean dramas aired between May 1st, 2023, and April 30th, 2024. In the other five Asian countries, main actors from SDA entries are selected for candidates.’

The winners were determined by votes from fans around the world through the IDOL CHAMP app, and voting took place from June 15 to July 14.

Kim was also nominated as Best Female Lead in a TV Programme for Linlang at the ContentAsia Awards 2024.
