If you ask any Filipino, we have their own version of Meteor fever — the legendary F4 from Meteor Garden (2001) consisted of Jerry Yan as Dao Ming Si, Vic Zhou as Hua Ze Lei, Vanness Wu as Mei Zuo, and Ken Chu as Xi Men that shook the entire nation and the Shancai who gave everyone the fantasy of a fairytale love story. And she was none other than the iconic Barbie Hsu.

During my elementary days, I didn’t know much about love, but somehow, Meteor Garden taught me about red flags, heartbreak, and what it meant to fight for someone.

I thought Hua Ze Lei was the perfect choice (admit it, second lead syndrome got us all), but as the episodes passed, I saw Dao Ming Si change — from an arrogant, entitled heir to a man who learned how to love selflessly. And it was all because of one girl who never gave up on him.
