The Kapuso film can now be searched on the streaming platform, where it shows January 31 as its release date.
It has a maturity rating of 16+ and is described by Netflix as “provocative and gritty.”
Directed by Kip Oebanda, “Balota” premiered at Cinemalaya 2024 and had a nationwide theatrical release with new cuts in October.
It follows the story of a land-grabbing tycoon and a former male sexy actor who are locked in a tight race for the mayoral seat of a small town. When violence erupts, a teacher runs into the forest with a ballot box containing the last copy of the election results.
Marian’s role in the film as Teacher Emmy earned her her first-ever Best Actress award at the Cinemalaya Film Festival. She shared the award with Gabby Padilla.
