South Korean musician Koo Jun-yup, also known as DJ Koo, vowed to protect his wife, Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu, and their kids after her passing, saying that protecting their family is the last thing he can do for her.

On Thursday, February 6, Koo took to Instagram to express his gratitude to everyone who has mourned the passing of his wife. In his caption, he admitted that he’s feeling “indescribable sorrow and pain” for what has happened.

“On Feb. 2, 2025, my angel went back to heaven. First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to those mourning for [Barbie Hsu],” Koo started his post.

He continued, “I am going through a time of indescribable sorrow and pain where I feel like my heart is cut by a knife. I am torn apart. I don’t have the strength to say anything. I don’t even want to say anything.”

Koo revealed that despite Barbie’s passing, there are still “devilish individuals” who are attempting to tarnish the actress and her family, without revealing who the said person was.

“There are some who walk in the rain while pretending to be sad; others are trying to hurt her family by creating fake news about her inheritance and other financial matters to tarnish them,” Koo said in his post.

In response, the Korean musician then mused over the thought that there are truly heartless people in the world, admitting that he’s scared at the thought that there are.

“To the precious legacy [Barbie Hsu] left behind, all the shares she collected to protect her beloved family, I decided to give it to my mother-in-law. I will [also] take legal action through lawyers to protect [her children’s rights] until they reach adulthood so that wicked people won’t touch them,” he said.

Koo said that the time he spent with Barbie was the most “precious and valuable gift” he had and would never trade for anything in the world.

“I believe that protecting the family whom she loved the most is the last thing that I can do for her,” Koo added.

Koo and Hsu tied the knot in 2022 after rekindling their relationship after 20 years. On Monday, February 3, a statement by Barbie’s younger sister Dee Hsu was released by Taiwanese media that confirmed her passing.

She revealed that the actress caught influenza-related pneumonia.
