The family of late actress Barbie Hsu is currently engaged in a public debate with the family of her ex-husband, Wang Xiaofei.

Barbie Hsu's mother appeals for privacy as family prepares to bring her ashes home

According to media reports, Barbie Hsu’s ashes were brought back to Taiwan by her husband, Koo Jun-yup and her family via a private jet at 3 PM on February 5 (local time). However, not long after her ashes arrived, her family and her ex-husband Wang Xiaofei’s side got into a heated argument, publicly exchanging blows with each other in the media. The dispute stems from the process of bringing her ashes back home.

Particularly, previously at night on February 5, some netizens claimed that Wang Xiaofei had paid for the private jet to transport Barbie Hsu’s ashes. Following this, Wang’s mother, Zhang Lan, also shared a video confirming that her son had helped bring Barbie Hsu’s ashes back to Taiwan. This information quickly went viral on Weibo, attracting massive public attention.

However, netizens soon realized that this was a publicity stunt by Wang Xiaofei and his mother, Zhang Lan. The person who initially spread the video claiming Wang Xiaofei assisted in his ex-wife’s funeral arrangements was actually a member of Zhang Lan’s own team.

Afterward, Barbie Hsu’s family publicly denied the rumor that Wang Xiaofei had paid for the private jet. A representative stated that the flight costs were covered by Barbie Hsu’s family and friends to bid her a final farewell.

“That mother and son duo shamelessly lied, disgustingly exploiting the deceased,” Barbie Hsu’s acquaintance criticized Wang Xiaofei and Zhang Lan.

Barbie Hsu’s younger sister, MC Dee Hsu, also angrily criticized her former brother-in-law’s family, saying, “Why would someone spread the false claim that Wang Xiaofei paid for the jet to bring my sister’s ashes home? I truly don’t understand! Karma sees everything. I can’t stand this level of exploitation.”

Meanwhile, according to media outlet Next Apple, the total cost of chartering the flight for Barbie Hsu’s ashes was around $69,000.

On the other hand, regarding the inheritance matter following Barbie Hsu’s death, a friend of Koo Jun-yup revealed he’s uninterested in the late actress’ assets, stating, “All he needs is Barbie Hsu herself”.

On the other hand, after Barbie Hsu’s ashes were brought to her home in Xinyi, Taiwan on the evening of February 5, Wang Xiaofei drove a luxury sports car worth 16.8 million TWD (over 511,000 USD) to her villa to pay his respects.

In recent days, Wang Xiaofei has been repeatedly criticized for being hypocritical. During Barbie Hsu’s lifetime, he allegedly mistreated her, but after her passing, he has continuously acted grief-stricken. Many netizens accused him of “putting on a performance” and “seeking attention” over his ex-wife’s death. His mother, Zhang Lan, has also been slammed for being disrespectful toward the deceased, as she continued to livestream cheerfully while discussing her former daughter-in-law’s passing.

Additionally, an ex of Wang Xiaofei also posted a scathing exposé about the mistreatment Barbie Hsu suffered while married to the businessman, from being called a “seal” while pregnant to being physically and mentally abused.
