Barbie Hsu’s sister, Dee Hsu, has denied claims that Wang Xiaofei paid for a private jet to transport the late actress’s ashes to Taiwan.
According to Dimsum Daily, online rumors suggested Wang arranged and financed the flight from Japan to Taiwan, estimated to cost 400,000 yuan (US$55,000). The report claimed Wang insisted that Hsu’s remains be treated with dignity rather than as standard cargo. His mother, Chinese businesswoman Zhang Lan, reportedly liked a post spreading this claim, adding to speculation.
On Thursday, Dee Hsu refuted the allegations through her manager, stating that all funeral arrangements, including the private jet, were handled solely by the Hsu family.
“I cannot comprehend why this falsehood about Wang Xiaofei arranging the flight has emerged. The truth is evident, especially now that my sister is watching over us,” she said.
Hsu’s family members condemned Wang, calling the rumors “disgusting” and accusing him of dishonesty. The controversy deepened when it was revealed that the social media influencer who initially spread the claim had ties to Wang’s family.

Zhang continued her usual livestream sales session amid the controversy, but the comment section was flooded with criticism, accusing her and Wang of lying about the private jet, as reported by Znews.
In response, Zhang said, “What is truth, and what is a lie? Venting anger irresponsibly will backfire. The internet is not beyond the reach of the law. Our lawyers are handling this. As people who respect justice, we must set an example.”
According to the Taipei Times, a statement from Hsu’s family on Wednesday night confirmed that she had “returned home,” following reports that her ashes arrived in Taiwan on a private jet that landed at Taipei Songshan Airport around 3 p.m. that day.
Taiwanese media reported that Wang rushed to Hsu’s residence upon hearing the news and was later photographed outside her apartment.
Hsu’s family confirmed her death at the age of 49 in a statement released by her sister Dee Hsu on Monday.
Hsu was married to Wang, 43, from 2011 until their divorce in 2021, and they have two children together.
Following the divorce, Hsu reunited with her ex-boyfriend, South Korean musician DJ Koo, and married him in Feb. 2022. The couple resumed their life together until her untimely death.
Wang later married Mandy in May 2024.
