DJ Koo tried to hold himself together after his wife’s sudden death shook him. Read to know his reaction to the tragic news.

Trigger Warning: This article contains mention of death.
The sudden and untimely death of Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu (48) left her loved ones shocked and heartbroken. She was diagnosed with fatal influenza-induced pneumonia during Lunar New Year, as revealed by her sister Dee Hsu through her agency. After the news’ confirmed by her sister, Barbie Hsu’s present husband, Koo Jun Yup, was approached with the same inquisition.
Koo Jun Yup, better known as DJ Koo, tried to contain his emotional breakdown as he was asked to comment on the news of his beloved wife’s demise. Confirming the authenticity of the sorrowful happening, he reportedly said, “It is not fake news.” As per his phone call with Korean media outlet Ilgnan Sports, he revealed not being on terms with the situation yet. The grieving husband painfully said, “I am not okay.”
The news greatly shook the Meteor Garden actress’ fans and loved ones, and it can be well understood what her husband, children and the rest of the family must be going through. The 48-year-old actress was enjoying her time with her family by taking a trip to Japan, but little did they know that it would be her last trip. Fans felt sorry for her second husband, as the couple was united not for long after a longer period of separation.
Barbie Hsu and Koo Jun Yup were married for three years after being out of touch for almost two decades. The Taiwanese actress’s romantic relationship with the K-pop idol was highly publicized back in the 1990s. The couple dated in late 1998 for approximately a year before parting ways in 2000, citing busy schedules and restrictive policies of Korean entertainment agencies. The K-pop artists back then were prohibited from dating.
Notably, DJ Koo didn’t publicly acknowledge their relationship until many years later, probably due to the same reason. However, their mutual affection for each other stayed intact. After their breakup, in 2010, Barbie Hsu found love for the second time with Chinese business tycoon Wang Xiaofei. They got engaged in 2010, just 49 days into their relationship, and got married about a year later. However, things didn’t work out between them, and they got divorced in 2021.
After her ugly separation from Wang Xiaofei, her old flame with DJ Koo rekindled. The two of them got married, three months after her separation from her ex-husband. They were living as spouses with the actress’ children since February 8, 2022, until death separated them again.
