According to the law, Barbie Hsu’s heirs are DJ Koo and her two children. If DJ Koo gives up his inheritance rights, the assets will be equally divided between the two children, and Barbie Hsu’s mother will have no legal claim to the inheritance. Under Taiwanese law, if DJ Koo wants to transfer the assets to Huang Xuan Mai, he must first inherit them himself. He would then have to transfer them as a gift, which would be subject to a very high tax rate.
