Like many app-savvy Pinoys looking for romance, Vice Ganda has tried swiping left and right on the dating app Tinder — until he got blocked.

The “Fantastica” star spoke candidly about using the app during the “Tawag ng Tanghalan” segment of “It’s Showtime” on Wednesday. The topic came up when the contestant said she met her current boyfriend online.

“Bad trip, naka-block ako sa Tinder, e!” Vice Ganda said. “Kasi ‘yung mga Pinoy, akala siguro nila poser. Ni-report ako nang ni-report, naka-block tuloy ako! Hindi tuloy ako maka-swipe right, bad trip!”

He went on: “Ang ganda-ganda pa man din ng picture ko doon, ‘yung naka swimsuit ako sa Bohol. Ang dami kayang tsumitsika sa akin doon na foreigner!”

Tinder, which launched in 2012, has users swiping through profiles of potential dating matches. Swiping left means passing, while swiping right signifies interest. If two users happen to have swiped right on each other’s profile, they’ll get matched and be able to chat with each other.

When co-host Anne Curtis suggested that he make a new account, Vice Ganda lamented: “Naka-block kasi ako talaga, e. Kahit ano’ng palit ko, hindi ko talaga siya mabuksan. Kailangan ng bagong e-mail.”

Addressing TV viewers, particularly Filipino users of Tinder, he said: “Huwag niyo nga ako i-block! Ang dami rin kasing Vice. Ilalagay ko, ‘Vice Ganda – Ako Po ‘To.’”

Despite his apparent dismay with being unable to use Tinder, Vice Ganda has made no secret of his happy disposition of late, with many fans and even his co-hosts teasing it’s because of basketball player Calvin Abueva.

While the two have denied any romantic ties, they’ve described their relationship as “sweet friends,” with Vice Ganda most recently referring to Abueva as “my sunshine.”
