Koo Jun-yup honored his late wife, Barbie Hsu, on their wedding anniversary with a heartfelt message.

According to Taiwanese media, February 8 marks the day Koo Jun-yup and Barbie Hsu officially registered their marriage in South Korea. The couple registered their marriage in South Korea on February 8, 2022, and later in Taiwan on March 28, 2022. Reports state that they chose February 8 as their official wedding anniversary.

Koo Jun-yup and Barbie Hsu began dating around 1998 but separated after about a year due to personal circumstances. After 23 years of separation, they reconnected and ultimately tied the knot. MBC’s variety show “Radio Star” revealed their emotional reunion during its August 9, 2023, broadcast. The video showed the couple embracing each other while in tears. Reflecting on the moment, Koo Jun-yup shared, “If someone asks me what the most unforgettable moment of my life is before I die, I would choose that one.”

However, tragedy struck when Barbie Hsu passed away on February 3 while traveling in Japan with her family. According to her younger sister, Dee Hsu, Barbie succumbed to complications after the flu developed into pneumonia. Her ashes were later transported from Japan to Taiwan. At that moment, Koo Jun-yup reportedly asked staff members to shield her with an umbrella, ensuring her dignity until the very end.

On February 6, Koo Jun-yup expressed his grief on social media, saying, “I am going through a pain so deep, it feels as if my insides are being torn apart,” deeply moving netizens.

Barbie Hsu’s final resting place will be a tree burial, fulfilling her wish for an eco-friendly farewell. Dee Hsu recalled, “My sister once said that if she ever left this world, she wanted a tree burial

On February 8, Koo Jun-yup posted a short but heartfelt message on social media, “I will love you forever,” along with a video of a piano performance. Kim Song, the wife of his fellow CLON member Kang Won-rae, commented, “So this is you playing, oppa.”
