According to Next Apple, Hsu’s younger sister, Dee Hsu, confirmed through her manager that the family had finalized the funeral arrangements. “We occasionally talked about life and death, and each of us had our own thoughts. My sister once said that if she were to pass away, she would prefer a natural burial because it is environmentally friendly,” she said.

For now, Hsu’s ashes are being kept at home. Once the burial site and date are confirmed, the family will proceed with the ceremony.

Alternative burial methods, including natural, flower, and sea burials, have gained popularity in Taiwan, UDN reported. A natural burial involves planting a tree at a cemetery and placing the ashes in a biodegradable cotton or paper bag beneath its roots, without a headstone or name engraving.

Hsu’s family confirmed her death at the age of 49 in a statement released by her sister Dee Hsu on Monday.. Her family held a cremation ceremony in Tokyo before bringing her ashes back to Taiwan on Feb. 5.

On Saturday, her husband, South Korean DJ Koo, posted on social media: “I will love you forever.” The day marked the third anniversary of their marriage registration in South Korea.

Hsu gained fame from her roles in TV series such as “Meteor Garden,” “Mars,” and “Summer’s Desire.” Her personal life, especially her marriages, has always been a focal point of public and media interest.

She was married to Wang, 43, from 2011 until their divorce in 2021, and they have two children together.

Following the divorce, Hsu reunited with her ex-boyfriend, South Korean musician DJ Koo, and married him in Feb. 2022. The couple resumed their life together until her untimely death.

Wang later married Mandy in May 2024.
