In an exclusive interview with media outlet The Fact, the ex-boyfriend, identified as ‘K,’ shared intimate details about the final days of Kim Sae Ron’s life, shedding light on her troubled marriage and strained family relationships.

Abusive Marriage and Isolation

Kim Sae Ron met her husband in November 2024, and the two married in early 2025. According to ‘K,’ her husband subjected her to both physical and verbal abuse, causing severe emotional distress. Feeling isolated, Kim Sae Ron turned to ‘K’ for support, a move that only intensified her husband’s anger.

When her husband discovered their communication, he confiscated her phone, closely monitored her actions, and continued to berate her verbally.

The abuse and isolation led Kim Sae Ron to severe stress, resulting in multiple self-harm attempts. ‘K’ revealed a series of text messages exchanged between himself and Kim Sae Ron, exposing the extent of her pain and desperation. Additionally, he shared a threatening message from her husband, then her boyfriend, demanding ‘K’ cut off contact.

In one of the messages, her husband warned:

‘I’m Sae Ron’s boyfriend. Don’t contact her again and don’t even think about meeting her. This is my final warning.

I know you met up with her on Christmas Eve and Christmas. I’m holding back, even though I want to kill you, so I’m blocking you. Just please, f** off, you useless piece of s***.’

Despite her husband’s aggressive control, Kim Sae Ron continued to confide in ‘K,’ expressing her guilt for hurting him while admitting she was trapped in fear and confusion.

In a heartbreaking message, she confessed:

‘I was lonely and I needed someone to listen to me and help me solve my problems.

But that help was temporary. Later on, he began leaking my messages and photos, hacked my Instagram, hit me, and cursed at me.

I was so scared. That’s why I couldn’t break up with him.’

A Family’s Indifference

‘K’ also criticized Kim Sae Ron’s family, accusing them of neglect.

He recounted an incident on November 1, 2024, when Kim Sae Ron attempted self-harm and required emergency surgery. Despite being informed, her family did not visit her at the hospital.

Only ‘K’ remained by her side until her discharge. Her former agency had to cover the medical expenses.

Reflecting on her family’s indifference, ‘K’ stated:

‘When I brought Sae Ron home after she was discharged, her mother and her mother’s friend were casually having a meal at home.

She didn’t look surprised or show any signs of empathy.

This kind of reaction from her family is why she always wanted to run away.’

Denial of Kim Soo Hyun’s Involvement

Addressing the accusations linking Kim Soo Hyun to her death, ‘K’ expressed disbelief over the sudden claims made by Kim Sae Ron’s aunt, who appeared after her passing.

He questioned the family’s motives, criticizing them for using her past connections to create a misleading narrative.

‘If her biological parents aren’t even the ones stepping forward, isn’t it more likely they are the ones she wanted to escape from?

They hardly cared when she was alive, but now that she’s gone, they’re digging up a relationship from years ago with a famous actor?

There has to be a separate motive behind this.’

To support his claims, ‘K’ provided a signed and stamped statement with his Korean social security number.

He also shared a voice recording of Kim Sae Ron at the hospital, where she mentioned needing surgery costing ₩5 million KRW (about $3,410 USD).

However, the person she reached out to for help was not her family but an acquaintance.
