Kris Aquino, in response to Lolit Solis’s recent Instagram post, clarified why she chooses not to publicly mention her ex-husband, James Yap, and also shared a heartwarming moment from her Mother’s Day celebration with her sons, Josh and Bimby.
Lolit, in her post, shared a throwback photo of former couple Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion, discussing how ex-couples should stop interacting publicly, especially when they’ve moved on with their separate lives. She used Kris and James’s situation as an example, questioning why it’s still a big deal whether or not James greets Kris on Mother’s Day. “Shouldn’t it be that when couples part ways, they cut all connections? They can be civil or even friends if they choose to, but if they prefer not to engage, why should we force it?” Lolit wrote.
Kris responded in a comment, explaining that Mother’s Day is primarily about honoring her mother, and not about acknowledging her past relationship. “Honestly, it’s not a big deal for me. I just saw your post now. For me, Mother’s Day will always be about my mom,” Kris wrote.
She also shared her reasons for keeping quiet about James, stating, “I never mention Bimb’s father in my posts because I believe that by staying silent, there won’t be any issues. Our lives are very separate now, and I will always choose what makes Bimb happy.”
Kris also recalled a humorous exchange with her son Bimby on Mother’s Day. “Gerbel and Bincai got me a beautiful H&M jumpsuit as a gift, and I jokingly asked Bimb, ‘How come you and Kuya didn’t surprise me?’ His witty reply was, ‘Mama, what can we give you that you don’t already have?’” she shared with a laugh.
