Palace Denies Claims That First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos Was Held by U.S. Authorities

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro firmly denied on Thursday the circulating rumors that First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos was detained by law enforcement authorities during her visit to the United States.

Palace says FL Liza Marcos in PH, denies she was held by US authorities

“There is no truth that the First Lady was held by any law enforcers while in Los Angeles or in any other place,” Castro clarified in a statement to reporters.

According to Castro, Araneta-Marcos returned to Manila on Monday morning following her working visit to the United States. She traveled to Miami, Florida, and Los Angeles, California, from March 5 to 8 to participate in the Meeting of the Minds conference and the Manila International Film Festival. The First Lady’s trip was focused on strengthening cultural ties and promoting the Philippine film industry on the international stage.

Following her return to the country, Marcos resumed her official duties. On March 11, she led a turnover ceremony of donations to the Girl Scouts of the Philippines in her office in Manila, reaffirming her commitment to supporting youth and community initiatives.

The Palace’s statement serves to dispel the false claims that have been spreading online, emphasizing that Araneta-Marcos’ visit to the U.S. was strictly professional and devoid of any legal complications. The administration urges the public to refrain from believing and sharing unverified information that could mislead the public.

The First Lady remains focused on her advocacies and continues to perform her duties in both local and international engagements.
