Contrary to the storyline of “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?”, Paulo Avelino and Kim Chiu, who top bill the upcoming local adaptation of the South Korean series, personally discourage romance in the workplace.

“It is always to be professional. I know in some cases, you can’t help but fall in love with someone in your workplace. But maybe, just choose an appropriate setting. But for me, I always want to be professional,” Avelino said during the show’s press conference on Saturday.

“Hindi maiwasan ganon, lalo na kung magkakilala kayo, ilang oras sa isang araw siya lang kausap mo. Pero mas importante siguro mas maayos trabaho kaysa personal na buhay mo. Siguro mag-suffer work… baka hindi ka makapag-concentrate sa work. Mas priority ‘yong trabaho,” Chiu dded.

(It is inevitable to have workplace romance, especially if you know each other so well, you spend so much time in a day talking to each other. But what’s more important than your personal life is for you to do your work effectively. Your work might suffer… you might not be able to concentrate. So work should always be the priority.)

The pair, however, said the series’ love story between  secretary and her boss would still sweep viewers off their feet.

“Mapapaisip ka [if] may ganon ba na lalaki sa secretary. It is a very romantic type of boss,” Chiu explained.

(It will make you wonder if there is a man who acts like that to his secretary.)

Avelino praised Chiu during the media conference.

“I think everything is going well with her. It is just one aspect  but everything is going well for her. I think she knows. She just has to be more positive. I don’t see anything wrong with Kim. Everything [is right]. She is beautiful, she has a wonderful and beautiful career as well,” he said.

Chiu, on the other hand, described her leading man as “perfect.”

“He is very professional and funny now. What’s right about Paulo is [him] being himself. And that is what makes him right,” she shared.

“What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim” will begin streaming on March 18, 2024.

The cast said the local adaptation possesses elements that make it relatable to Filipinos.

“As proud Pinoys, the writers and everyone involved put in  Filipino touches. Such as [being] family oriented, more comedy side,” Chiu said.
