On February 5th, Chinese actress Zhang Yingying, who had an affair with Barbie Hsu’s ex-husband Wang Xiaofei, posted on her personal SNS account revealing that Barbie Hsu suffered domestic violence from Wang Xiaofei.

Zhang Yingying claimed, “Barbie Hsu lent Wang Xiaofei money to fully support his business and even risked her life to give birth to their children. After all her efforts, Wang Xiaofei, however, mocked her, called her a ‘seal’ and complained that her body was ruined after giving birth. He stared at her just because she took a few extra bites of food“, adding “He physically assaulted Barbie Hsu even during her pregnancy, as well as her sister and her friends. He also manipulated her by convincing her that her mother and sister were just jealous of her and trying to hurt her”.

Zhang Yingying was the person who ruined the marriage of Barbie Hsu and Wang Xiaofei. However, she now exposed Wang Xiaofei for taking advantage of Barbie Hsu’s death, drawing keen public attention.

It is said that Wang Xiaofei constantly bullied Barbie Hsu even after their divorce. Barbie Hsu and Wang Xiaofei got married in 2011 and divorced in 2021. Following their divorce, the two continued legal battles over issues such as custody, property division, and living expense support. In the process, Wang Xiaofei was sued for defamation after spreading rumors, such as Barbie Hsu and Koo Jun-yeop having an affair or Barbie Hsu taking drugs.

Netizens have raised speculations that Wang Xiaofei may have changed his attitude because of Barbie Hsu’s inheritance. Barbie Hsu was known to own assets worth around 120 billion won, including her real estate and the assets she received from Wang Xiaofei after their divorce. According to the law in Taiwan, Barbie Hsu’s assets would be divided equally between her two children and Koo Jun-yeop if she did not leave a will. However, since Koo Jun-yeop is not the children’s biological father, Wang Xiaofei could claim custody of them. Taiwanese law states that if one parent dies after divorce, the parental rights will automatically transfer to the surviving one. Therefore, if Wang Xiaofei gains custody of the children, two-thirds of Barbie Hsu’s assets could end up falling into his hands.

For this reason, many are raising opinions that Koo Jun-yeop may begin a legal battle with Wang Xiaofei. Barbie Hsu had filed a lawsuit against Wang Xiaofei for failing to support her living, including providing the child support he promised during their divorce. Although Barbie Hsu, the plaintiff in the civil lawsuit, has passed away, the lawsuit is expected to continue. As a result, some believe that Koo Jun-yeop may take over the lawsuit on behalf of Barbie Hsu.

On February 2nd, Barbie Hsu passed away due to acute pneumonia while traveling in Japan. Koo Jun-yeop and Barbie Hsu’s family stayed by her side until she took her last breath. On February 6th, Koo Jun-yeop will return to Taiwan with her ashes.
