“FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” is setting the stage for an explosive new chapter as it gears up for its third year. But before stepping into fresh territory, they’re making sure to close Tanggol (Coco Martin)’s current journey with a bang, with the latest episodes dishing out game-changing twists and high-stakes action and drama.
“Sinarado muna natin ‘yung libro, ‘yung kabanata ni Tanggol. At ipapakita natin after nito kung ano na ang magiging kinabukasan ni Tanggol, ano na ang magiging buhay niya,” says Coco during a quick chat in the middle of filming the series’ latest record-breaking episodes.
He’s excited to work with new cast members joining the show’s third book, especially given how respected these actors are for their body of work. “Napakapalad ko. Ang makatrabaho ang mga veteran actors, isang malaking karangalan sa aming mga batang artista.”
Coco believes that Tanggol’s story reflects the realities of life, which is one of the reasons “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” has remained strong on air. Add to that, with the entire team giving their all, they continue to deliver both inspiration and entertainment to viewers.
Christopher de Leon can vouch that as the show’s torchbearer, Coco makes sure every scene is exciting and highly entertaining, particularly with how seamlessly he blends drama and action, which Christopher really admires. He thinks this is one of the reasons behind the show’s unbeatable number-one status.
And that was indeed on full display during their emotional confrontation, when Ramon and Tanggol finally came face-to-face as father and son. Tanggol unleased his pent-up anger, bitterness, and even longing, while Ramon tried his best to explain the past—condensing two decades’ worth of history into this single, powerful moment.
As McCoy de Leon puts it, the recent episodes delivered more than what viewers expected, specifically when it came to the long-awaited downfall of his widely despised character, David. Currently, David is recovering in the hospital after taking a brutal beating from the Montenegro bloodline.
As for Rigor, John Estrada keeps things under wraps, not wanting to spoil anything for viewers. Besides, even they, as actors, are constantly surprised by the show’s unexpected plot twists and character developments.
With a new chapter on the horizon, director Richard Somes assures that each scene will be even more thrilling to watch. As in the previous years, they would stay true to the essence of classic Pinoy action while finding ways to level it up with modern styles, techniques, and cinematic visuals. This signature mix has indeed become the trademark of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo”—one that keeps Pinoy viewers hooked.
Stay tuned to see how Ramon and Tanggol will escape the looming danger as the cops close in on their hideout. Don’t miss an episode of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” weeknights on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TV5, and A2Z.
