South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron has been found dead in her home last Sunday, February 16. The 24-year-old’s body was discovered llifeless in her home in Seoul’s Seongsu-dong district according to the police.

In reports by The Korea Times and Korea Joong Ang Daily, the 24-year-old actress was found at 4:54 p.m. by a friend who had plans to meet up with her that day.

When the actress initially failed to show up at their scheduled meeting, the friend called  the authorities.

Officers from Seoul Seongdong Police Precinct arrived at Kim’s house in Seongdong District, eastern Seoul, after receiving a report from her friend.

No signs of foul play had been found at the scene and there is now an ongoing investigation as to the official cause of death.

“We have not found any signs of foul play as of yet, but we are investigating the circumstances of the death,” a police official stated, as quoted by The Korea Times.

Born in Seoul in 2000, Kim began her career as a child actress and was poised to become one of South Korea’s most promising young actresses after gaining popularity with with her role in the 2009 film A Brand New Life, which gave her the opportunity to attend the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

She also starred in South Korea’s highest grossing film of 2010, The Man from Nowhere and 2012 thriller The Neighbour. Kim also had roles in films such as Hi! School-Love On and Bloodhounds.

In 2022, she faced the biggest controversy in her career after being involved in a drunk driving incident for which she had to pay a fine of 20 million won (around P800,500) in the following year.

Kim was last seen as part of the cast of the Netflix Korean drama Bloodhounds which was released in 2023.
