“I am not okay,” he told South Korea’s Daily Sports in a brief phone call on Feb. 3, as quoted by Znews. The DJ, currently in Taiwan, declined to comment further.

Hsu died just days before what would have been her third wedding anniversary with Koo. Their marriage had faced persistent rumors of tension, though the DJ had repeatedly denied them.

In a past interview, Koo spoke fondly of Hsu, saying they never argued in their first year of marriage.

“She was wonderful. What I loved most was her smile.”

He recalled celebrating their anniversary at home with champagne, gifting her a dress, while her children from her previous marriage gave him a silk handkerchief.

Hsu’s family confirmed her passing on Monday in a statement delivered by her younger sister, Taiwanese host Dee Hsu.

“Thank you for all the concern,” Dee stated. “Over the Lunar New Year period, our entire family traveled to Japan for a holiday, and my most beloved, kindest elder sister Barbie caught influenza-related pneumonia and has unfortunately left us.”

“I am thankful to be her sister in this life, and grateful that we have taken care of each other and kept each other company all these years. I will always be thankful to her and remember her,” Dee continued. “Shan [Hsu’s nickname], rest in peace. We love you always. Together remember forever.”

Hsu gained stardom from her roles in popular TV series like “Meteor Garden,” “Mars,” and “Summer’s Desire.” Her personal life, including her marriages, has always been a focal point for both the public and the media.

She was married to Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, 43, from 2011 until their divorce in 2021, and together they have two children.

Merely three months after her divorce, she married 55-year-old DJ Koo.
