Netizens and online memes can’t help but compare the lyrics of Moira’s song ‘Paubaya’ to the recent relationship and eventual wedding of PBA star Scottie Thompson involving another woman.

Thompson reportedly married Jinky Serrano, a former stewardess from Pampanga in June at a private event in Las Pinas.

Thompson recently broke up with his fiancee and long-time girlfriend for 8 years Pau Fajardo. The basketball player proposed to Fajardo on New Year’s Eve.

In a report on Spin.PH, multiple sources said that the couple broke up sometime in April.

The report on Thompson’s wedding shocked their fans and even prompted some of his closest friends to issue a statement.

One of them was Kayesha Chua, the fiance of Thompson’s co-player Aljon Mariano. The couple was close to Thompson and Fajardo.

“We’ve been quiet since day 1 because it was their request to keep things private. Same reason why everyone knew about it just now. Do not equate our silence to our ‘lack of support’ for our friends because you know nothing about the things we did for them. NOTHING,” she said on Instagram.

Chua said that after the break up, the group reached out to both Fajardo and Thompson. The basketball star however ignored all attempts by his close friends to discuss the matter.

“She reached out to us when they were starting to have this problem, he did not… Things escalated, there was more reaching out to him but even AJ and Kev’s invites to talk were shut down. We never left her side. We never judged him. We were good friends but I guess he forgot about us too,” Chua said.

“I just wish he trusted us like how he said we were like family to him but he didn’t… He had to make a choice, and he chose her… We give him our best wishes and leave him to it. I wish you strength because you’ll need it. I hope she’s worth it,” she added.

Thompson has yet to comment on his viral wedding while Fajardo has deactivated her social media accounts.

Several posts and memes on social media showed their surprise on the turn out of events.

“Yung akala mo sila na talaga hanggang dulo hindi pala sobrang sakit nito,” a netizen commented in a meme posted on Ginebra Ako memes.

“Si ate girl na pinakasalan sobrang saya pero di na iisip Yung nararamdaman NUNG kapwa babae Niya na dudurog,” another one said.

Some fans defended Thompson.

“Bash pa more… Pag si Scottie nakaramdam ng depression dahil sa mga pinagsasabi nyo, sana usigin kayo ng konsensya nyo… Fan lang tayo, di nyo hawak buhay ng mga yan,” a netizen said.
