Pulsating beats and electrifying performances define the local club scene where the energy never skips a beat.

One DJ who has been drawing in partygoers is DJ Jellie Aw, whose mixes keep dance floors alive and buzzing.

Now on her sixth year in the industry, she has made a name for herself as resident DJ at three of Metro Manila’s go-to night clubs.

She was also hailed by EDMdroid Asia as one of the World’s Sexiest DJs in 2020.

Let’s dive into her journey and see what makes her spin stand out.

EARLY LIFE AND FAMILY

Born Jellie Aw Dela Punta on November 11, 1994, in Bicol, Philippines, she grew up in a household where love and responsibility went hand in hand.

As the eldest daughter of Jose and Gina Dela Punta, Jellie took on the role of protective older sister to two sisters and a brother.

Jo Aw, her sister, has followed in her footsteps as a club DJ.

However, life hasn’t always been a walk in the park for the Dela Puntas.

Tragedy struck their world on September 29, 2021, when their patriarch, Jose, passed away.

His loss deeply affected Jellie, who poured her grief into a heartfelt message on social media, revealing how much she longed to make him proud.

She recounted their shared dreams, particularly the dream of building a home for her parents—a dream she eventually fulfilled on December 13, 2021, three months after her father died.

Since then, Jellie has remained steadfast in her role as the family’s pillar of strength.

She continued to provide for her mother and siblings.

She often reminded her younger siblings to stay united, something their late father wished for.

Jellie would say (punctuations provided): “Mahal ko kayong tatlo. Lahat ng gusto n’yo binibigay ni Ate basta tanggalin yung tampuhan sa isa’t isa para na rin kay Papa.”

Becoming a breadwinner

One of the defining commitments in Jellie’s life is being the family breadwinner.

She has been open about the challenges that come with supporting her family, often sharing messages of encouragement with fellow breadwinners.

On November 28, 2022, she reflected about the bittersweet reality of working hard to provide for loved ones:

“Nakakamangha ka! May choice ka para gawin ang gusto mong gawin, bilhin ang kaya mo namang bilhin, magsimulang buuin ang sarili mong pangarap pero heto ka, tinataguyod ang pamilya, hindi sila iniiwan at patuloy na nagsusumikap para sa kanila.”

She added, “You chose to be selfless. Hindi muna inuuna ang sarili kahit pwede naman dahil mas mahalaga sa ‘yo ang kapakanan ng pamilya mo.

“Nangangarap at nagsusumikap hindi lang para sa sarili kung ‘di para sa kaginhawaan sa buhay ng mga mahal mo.”

EDUCATION AND EARLY CAREER

Jellie pursued her middle-school education at Commonwealth High School in Quezon City.

And although her college years at Our Lady of Fatima University were spent studying Hotel and Restaurant Management, it was clear that Jellie’s heart belonged to entertainment.

Before making a name as a DJ, Jellie honed her performance skills as a professional dancer.

She was part of the PBA Frontrow LuxxeWhite Angels (2019), and was previously a dancer on various television shows, including The Singing Bee (2007), It’s Showtime (2008), and Wowowin (2017).

Her Facebook fan pages showed that her charisma and stage presence had left their mark.

SPINNING HER WAY TO STARDOM

Jellie’s rise in the music industry was no overnight success.

Her journey into the DJ world, although fueled by a passion for music and live entertainment, required tireless work over many years.

Slowly mastering her craft, she was eventually recognized as one of the most sought-after female DJs in the country.

She currently holds residencies at three premier nightclubs—Karma Lounge QC, G-Side Night Club, and Envy Nightclub—where she commands the crowd with her mixes and energy.

Her influence grew even stronger when she was named one of EDMdroid Asia’s World’s Sexiest DJs in 2020.

Beyond her DJing skills, Jellie has also become brand ambassador for SandreaLee Salon, Primera Light Brandy, and Zoberup Plus.

She has also modeled for GWI Business Global Solutions Inc., a BPO company, and was a model at Revel at The Palace, a bar in Taguig City.

More Than Just Music

When not behind the DJ booth, Jellie enjoys life’s simple pleasures. She loves the beach, frequently celebrating milestone moments by the sea.

A dog lover, she has a soft spot for Pomeranians and Huskies. Her pet Pomeranian, Jelai, is often seen stealing the spotlight on her social media.

JELLIE AW AND JAM IGNACIO’S RELATIONSHIP

Jellie’s 30th birthday on November 11, 2024 doubled as her engagement party.

To the surprise proposal of boyfriend Jam Ignacio, 38 years old, Jellie responded (published as is): “diko alam na may pa sabog ka @jamignacio da diko alam sasabihin ko basta ayaw tumigil ng pawis ko nung nakita ko na nakaluhod ka mas naiyak kapa kesa sakin g kana ba tiga jan? charot!”

They had been together a whirlwind four months.

“di ako makapaniwala kasi 4 months palang tayo wala pala sa tagal yun at sa dami ng pinag samahan basta mahal mo isang tao at nakikita muna sya sa future mo habang buhay dimo na papatagalin pa thank you sa love and araw araw na pag aalaga mo sakin, kitang kita at ramdam na ramdam ko na ayaw muna ko pakawalan haha! joke pero totoo & i love you!”

Jellie was in love.

Before Jellie, Jam Ignacio was linked to actress-politician Karla Estrada, 50 years old, also famously known as the mother of Daniel Padilla.

On February 12, 2025—three months after Jellie’s engagement to Jam and seven months into their relationship—they made headlines. This time, for a violent encounter.

JELLIE AW “mauled” by Jam ignacio?

Jellie posted on her Facebook account that she had been “mauled” by Jam.

The incident is said to have happened while the two were alone in a car.

As proof, Jellie uploaded three photos of her bruised and bloodied face with the caption: “HAPPY VALENTINES?

“taena mo Jam Ignacio mapapatay moko wala akong ginawang masamA para ganituhin moko halos mamatay ako sa ginawa mo! papalukong [papakulong] kita!”

Apparently, their car had to stop at a tollgate. When the window was rolled down, Jellie took the chance to shout to the booth teller for help.

Jellie’s younger sister, Jo, said police then came to Jellie’s rescue, which ended with Jam making a run for it.

Jellie’s younger sister posted: “Ni hindi makahingi ng tulong ate ko dahil kinuha mo yung cellphone. Buti na lang hindi nabasa yung RFID sa toll at nakasigaw yung ate ko pag baba ng bintana at nakahingi ng tulong sa TELLER sa toll gate, ngayon tinakbuhan mo yung mga pulis!

“Wala kang awa!! Demonyo, mapapatay mo na ate ko!”
